Spicing Up Halloween

Last year was the first year I've ever dressed up in a "sexy" Halloween Costume.

My long-time readers will remember that I had weight loss surgery (almost FIVE years ago!) and prior to that, there was no way I would attempt to dress sexy.  I didn't plan on it last year, but I stumbled upon a costume and decided to go for it.
I loved it.  It was a blast and a huge ego-boost.

I'm not exactly sure what the costume actually IS.
I got it for a couple of bucks at a thrift store.
Scottish Terrier herder, maybe?
Nobody seemed to care.
Heh.
Anyway.  Now that October is here, it's time to start making plans for Halloween again.  This time I decided to see what Eden Fantasys had to offer.  If you're going to go sexy, might as well go all out, right?!

They have some super-hot Halloween Costumes available.  I must admit I think this School Girl costume is really cute, but I do NOT show my stomach.  No way, nevah!

Darque School Girl - Costume

Being in the health care field, this Nurse costume is really appealing to me.  I think it would be a LOT of fun!  ;-)
Nurse Juana B. Sedated - Costume
I just wish the Boobs came with the costume.
Sigh...

So what about you?  What are your Halloween Costume plans?  Will you dress up?  If so, will it be cute, sexy, silly, scary, or something else altogether?

Friday Fragments on Saturday

I typed this on Thursday but forgot to post it on Friday. So you get it on Saturday. Yay!

~~ It has been so weird having the girls gone all week! I don't think I've ever been alone for this long. When I was single before I met John, the kids didn't usually go to their dad's for this length of time. Anyway....it's been strange! The best part is my house has stayed SO clean. LOL

~~ Those of you long-timers know I had weight loss surgery. It's been just over four years now (can you believe it???). I went to the doctor last week and she called today to tell me that all of my lab results are great. I'm not deficient in any vitamins which means I'm not having any malabsorption problems. (I also take supplements but some WLS patients still struggle with this.) My weight is still great, I feel great, and I am so glad I made the decision to have WLS. A good friend of mine is having WLS on April 30th; I'm so excited for her!

~~ It is incredibly, unseasonably HOT here in Florida. We don't really have "seasons", but temps in the 90's are high for April, even in Florida. I'm not complaining; I'll take hot over cold any day. But DAYUM. It is hot!!!
*ETA* Update: it's freaking cold now. OK, just chilly and windy but still....WTH, Mother Nature? Mood swings much?

~~ My great-niece, Hayleigh, is at the cutest stage. She is smiling a lot and it's ADORABLE. She just turned 2 months old yesterday. I got to see her twice last week, and the second time she smiled at me THREE TIMES in the short period of time I was there. LOVE IT! She also makes the most adorable cooing noises, even when she sleeps. LOVE! <3

When You are No Longer Fat

I'm Pouring My Heart Out today with Shell.

When you are no longer fat, so many things change.
Many of these changes are expected. But some will take you by surprise.
For instance....

When you are no longer fat, people will go out of their way to hold a door open for you. They will rush ahead, or wait extra long for you to get there.

When you are no longer fat, your jokes suddenly become much more funny. People actually listen to what you're saying. Suddenly you are quite charming.

When you are no longer fat, people will call you nicknames such as "Little One". You will look at them like they're crazy, and ask them to repeat that. After being overweight for almost your entire life, that will amaze you.

When you are no longer fat, people will openly express their disdain for fat people around you. They are not cruel enough to say anything in front of fat people, but they will certainly talk behind their back. They don't know that you used to be fat. You will be shocked at the disgust people have for overweight people.

When you are no longer fat, those outfits that look so cute on the hanger, actually look cute on YOU, too. Shopping is much more enjoyable.

When you are no longer fat, you will get hired on the spot for jobs that you apply for. Even in a bad economy, you won't have to wait for those phone calls that, in the past, often never came.

When you are no longer fat, you will appreciate being treated with kindness and respect. You will enjoy being complimented.

When you are no longer fat, you will want to cry out, I am still the same person I always was! And you will hurt for that fat girl who was ignored, dismissed, and treated with condescension. Because she's still in there, wondering why people could never see past the surface before.

Ice Cream & Fragments

Lots going on around here! Tomorrow is the big day - my niece, Heather, is getting married! Tim & the girls are in the wedding. Last night was the Bachelorette Party; it was low key and family friendly. It was held at a bowling alley and the theme was 80's Rock. Check out the fuzzy cell phone pic of me & Layna:

(those are classic 80's fingerless gloves on Elayna's hand!)

It was a lot of fun! All of us girls are getting our nails done today. Tonight is the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding is at 2:00 pm Saturday. It's going to be beautiful! Her theme is cherry blossoms, hence the pretty dividers.....

The A/C in our car wasn't working. In Florida, that's just intolerable. Also, the passenger window was stuck in the 'up' position (thankfully) and wouldn't work. So, we had them fixed.
When we got it back, the power locks and the sideview mirror controls wouldn't work.
WhatTheWhat??

OhMyGosh, I nearly forgot to tell you. I had a life-changing experience this week. Ever since my weight loss surgery 3 years ago, I haven't been able to eat ice cream without getting extremely ill. Needless to say, I learned my lesson pretty quickly and chalked it up to a sacrifice to getting my health back. I only cried and mourned in private. (kidding) (sort of) But this week, I decided to try taking LactAid before eating ice cream, to see if that would help.
And then the heavens parted and I received a beautiful, miraculous blessing. I ate a bowl of ice cream and did not get even the tiniest bit sick. And later that night, I did it again.
It was amazing. I may have nearly shed tears of joy. Also, Publix Peach Cobbler Ice Cream is absolutely incredible.
For real, had I never been able to eat ice cream again, I would have accepted that. Many people have difficulty with a lot of different foods after WLS, so I considered myself lucky. But I really did miss ice cream, so this makes me a happy girl!

Last weekend, I worked my first-ever 24 hour shift.
I went to work on Saturday for my usual 8pm - 8am shift, and then when the Sunday caregiver came in to relieve me, she asked if I could work her shift. She has kidney stones and was in a lot of pain. The kids were at their dad's, we had no plans, so I said, sure. It actually went by pretty fast and I enjoyed it. I really lucked out with my first caregiving job; my client is super sweet, and at 88 year old is still totally on the ball mentally and knows exactly what medications she's supposed to take at what time, when her BP needs to be taken, etc. Which makes it really easy for me. All of us caregivers record her BP, weight, vitals, etc. daily but she keeps her own record of her BP because she worries about it. I can only hope I am that sharp at 88! She is great. There is a bed for the caregivers in the client's room, so we can sleep when she sleeps, although so far I can't sleep well while I'm there. So usually while she sleeps, I play on the internet. Tough job!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and check out Half Past Kissin' Time for more Friday Fragments!

Three Years Later & Better Than Ever

As many of you already know, I had weight loss surgery almost three years ago.

I have since went from 253 pounds. I now weigh around 135 pounds. I am 5'2".
I was morbidly obese, and I now am at a healthy weight.

I do an update post every year. This year's post is a little early; I have been itching to do it ever since I bought my first pair of skinny jeans last month.

So this year, indulge me. Instead of talking about how I feel and how healthy I am....can I just talk about how FREAKING. FABULOUS. I. LOOK??!!

Because
I
Look
Fabulous!

and
I
am
HAPPY!

I can buy clothes off the rack and they actually look GOOD on me!

Not too shabby for 37 years old??

I can wear SKINNY JEANS!!

So....I feel that I have earned the right
to do a little bragging.
And anyone who doesn't like it.....
Kiss This! ;-)

Considering that I used to look like this:

Yeah...I earned it!

As I'm always, I'm open to your questions regarding weight loss surgery. Fire away!

Surgery Q & A

Noelle asked a few questions about my Weight Loss Surgery after my Surgiversary post.
I want to answer them here in case anyone else is interested in the answers as well.

1) My friend had this surgery several years ago and she has experienced some side effects, such as vitamin deficiency. She takes lots of supplements for that but one side effect there is no supplement for is...gas. Terrible, obnoxious, stinky gas. You don't have any problems with that?

I haven't yet had any issues with vitamin deficiency. The only time I have trouble with gas is if I eat something I shouldn't, like greasy food or very rich, fatty foods. It's very few and far between because I limit those foods. When I do have problems, I take chewable Gas-X and it goes away. I have heard of people having a lot harder time with gas, though, so maybe I'm just lucky, but I do have to wonder since you mentioned vitamin deficiency also, if your friend is eating properly. That's so important!

2) How much did you weigh at your largest?

253 pounds. I've lost a total of 120. I am 5'2".

3) Did your insurance cover your procedure?

Yes, completely.

4) Did you have to have plastic surgery to remove excess skin?

I have not had any plastic surgery. I do have some excess skin, but not enough that it's problematic. If I had surgery for that it would be purely cosmetic, and that's not something I'm willing to do at this point. For me personally, I don't want to take the risk of surgery for anything cosmetic. I can't say I won't ever change my mind, but I doubt it.

I'd love to have something like this done but there is no way I can afford it. However, if my insurance covered it...that might be a different story. Also, not sure if I could live with myself if I had gas like that.

It's worth checking into; more and more insurance companies are covering it. It's much safer than it was years ago, and much more successful. Losing weight helps prevent many serious diseases and insurance companies are realizing how beneficial it is.

I greatly appreciate how sweet & supportive you all have been when I have posted about this! Thank you so much for your compliments.
Two of my good friends have had this surgery since I had mine; my very best friend in the world, Danielle, just had hers last month. The first few weeks are the hardest time, but she's doing well and I'm so happy for her. My other friend is almost at her goal weight and is doing wonderful!
I was fortunate to have two good friends who are ICU nurses and had the surgery before I did. They patiently answered my questions and gave me tons of advice. They were my mentors and I'm not sure I could've/would've done it without them. Even two years out I still go to them with questions occasionally. So if I can help someone else the way they helped me, I am all for it! My email is always open if anyone wants to talk to me about this.

Two Year Surgiversary

A look back
If you are newer to my blog, you may not know something about me.
Something big. Literally. heh. Something life-changing.
On February 26th, 2008, I had weight loss surgery. Gastric bypass surgery, to be specific.
It's been just over two years since my surgery. And if you click the link above, "A look back", you can read more about my decision to have the surgery, and the weight loss journey that followed, including some before & after pics. Unfortunately, some of the updates were posted on a weight loss blog which has since been deleted, but there were quite a few posted here as well. I had multiple reasons why I made this choice, and I did a ton of research before making the decision. You can read about that in the previous posts, and I am totally open to questions.
But today I'm posting about, well, today.
I feel absolutely wonderful. Better than I have probably since I was a child or young teenager. Physically, and emotionally. This surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Also, my immune system is working better than ever. I used to be the person who caught everything. If a sick person came within a mile of me, I caught it! Now, it's the opposite. At Christmas time, a stomach virus ran through the family....everyone caught it but me. They all pass colds around, I somehow manage to avoid it. I very rarely get sick any more...and I work in a hospital, germ central station! (now you KNOW since I'm posting this I'm going to catch ebola or something....)
There are many risks that go along with this surgery, but at this point, I have had no serious problems. I had to learn a new way to eat, and with that comes some trials and errors, but you live and learn. I can eat almost anything I want, but in small portions. However, some things - ALWAYS unhealthy things - make me feel ill, especially if I overdo it. I feel great when I eat right.
Every day I take a multivitamin, calcium, and iron, per doctor's orders. I also take fish oil, per my choice. I may need Vitamin B12 shots down the road but so far my bloodwork has been fine. (if I do need the shots, it's not a big deal to me, I don't have a problem with needles/shots.)
I eat several times a day, small meals, small portions. I concentrate on getting in a good amount of protein, because my protein needs are greater now and I am not a fan of protein shakes/supplements. (ick!) Protein is found in so many foods, and foods that I like, so I don't feel that it's necessary for me to choke down the supplements. I eat the same things that my family eats, but in smaller portions, and I make sure to eat my meat/protein first, then veggies, then if I have room I eat bread/carbs.
I have more energy, and so much more confidence. I am treated different, especially professionally. I am more respected now, which gives me mixed emotions. Naturally, I appreciate being respected and treated well, but at the same time, it makes me sad for that overweight girl I used to be. I'm still the same person, with the same knowledge and abilities, but now I'm treated better only because I am no longer obese. It's not fair.
I could post on and on about this, but instead I'll close; but again, I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Random 1. This year I joined in Domestic Dork's Valentine's Day Blog Exchange. Today I received my lovely gift from my swap partner, Christina at Consider the Coffee. All I told her was that my favorite color is purple. She had no idea that I sort of collect things with the word "Love" on them. See, John calls me Love almost exclusively. He buys me things that say "Love", like earrings, home decor, etc., and when we see something that says "love", we joke that it has my name on it. So this necklace is totally perfect! I wish I had a better picture than this cell phone shot, but it will have to do for now.

Isn't it beautiful?? I LOVE it!
You should check out Christina's Etsy shop, Coffee and Cream, and see all of her beautiful creations.

Random 2. My best friend had weight loss surgery yesterday, and is doing well. I'm so happy, proud of her, and excited for her!

Random 3. John butt-dialed me this morning. He was getting in the car to take the kids to school and sort of sat on his phone. I couldn't understand much of what was said, but I did hear him singing "Your Body is Underpants" to the tune of John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland". Awesome - I have my own personal Weird Al!

Random 4. I have discovered the most delicious snack - if you like dill pickles. Dill Pickle Sunflower Seeds! They are yummmmy!

Random 5. Also? Butter.Pecan.CAKE. I made this for our church's Superbowl Party and Oh Em Gee. Deliciousness!

Random 6. The Bachelor? What's your take? I was surprised that Ali chose to leave. Does anyone know what her job was? I never heard, and I figured it must be something good, to choose that over staying on the show. I'm sure she wouldn't have left to go back and waitress at the IHOP...right? Anyhoo, now I'm Team Tenley. BUT - my bets are on him actually choosing Vienna.

Random 7. Did you notice that a real life person linked up with my Weekend WrapUp post yesterday? I was so excited!!

Random 8. I'm leaving you with a random Facebook conversation involving me, my niece, and a couple of friends:

Me: My phone hasnt let me get on fb since last night - can you say withdrawal?? glad to be back!
Friend 1: welcome back to the mobile web!
Friend 2: we need an INTERVENTION....that is definitely NOT good
Me: What? im not addicted, i can quit anytime i want! *twitch*
My niece Heather: Cyndy, I am here because I love you and I miss my aunt... I remember when you used to call me a stupid brat... now all you do is tweet and play on FB and blog. If you do not accept this help we are offering I will no longer respond to your texts! :-D Whadda say?
Me: My name is Cyndy. C.Y.N.D.Y. wait, this is a documentary, right??
Niece: your addiction has affected me negatively in the following ways...

We crack ourselves up! Have a Happy Tuesday, folks.........and visit The Unmom for more Random Tuesday Thoughts!

To Nag or Not, Updated.

Remember when I posed the question to you all, To Nag or Not?

You all came through big with support and advice, which I greatly appreciate. I lots of comments on that post!

Now it's time for me to let you know how things are going now!

First of all, I took the advice of some of you, to have a talk with him. A heartfelt talk. I told him that I worry about his health, especially since his dad passed away at a young age due to heart problems. He said that he understood and that he did want to eat a healthier diet.

Although I was already buying & cooking relatively healthy foods, I made an even bigger effort to do so. I'm using the Mediterranean way of eating as a guideline, and we've completely cut out beef from our normal diet. I've realized that there are so many little changes I can make, that make a huge difference.

Also, since he always wants me to choose where we dine out, I try to choose places that offer a healthier menu so that he's not tempted by crap food. Like these!

He's started exercising every night.

I wouldn't say I nag, exactly. But I do suggest and occasionally remind.
One day last week, he looked at me sheepishly and said, "So, I went out to lunch with the guys at work, and I had a cheeseburger and fries...." and I said "okay...." and he continued "...and it made me sick." Those of you who have cut out greasy foods and then tried them again probably know this feeling....once your body isn't used to that crap, it makes you very ill! So, not that I was happy that he got sick of course, but I thought, "success! Muah ha ha!"
Best of all, he is more conscious of what he's putting into his body, and that's what matters the most. I can't do it for him, but I can help him along the way!

Thank you all so much for the great advice!

Wordful Wednesday ~ What a Difference a Year Makes...

Today is one year since I had gastric bypass surgery.

In the past year, I have lost 113 pounds.

I have gained so, so much more. Health, far less risk of many diseases, self-confidence, and a better role model for my children.

So many things have improved in my life: I have more energy, I feel tremendously better physically, and I just feel so much better about myself. There are even some things in life that improved, which I thought had no room for improvement. If you catch my drift. (bow chicka wow wow!)

Not for one moment have I regretted my decision. I know that I could not have lost all of this weight without the surgery. Believe me, I tried. I have had no complications at all. I am the poster child for gastric bypass! No problems whatsoever, and the weight dropped right off.

At one year post-op, I can eat most anything I want, just in small portions. I still eat very healthy, but I do indulge on 'treats' on special occasions. For me, it's all about moderation, and this surgery enabled me to eat properly.

Here's a pic of me very shortly after the surgery:

and here's the most recent pic of me, a crappy cell phone pic taken on Valentine's Day, just before J and I went out for dinner:

If you have any questions regarding this surgery, I'd be happy to answer them for you. I am so thankful that this surgery exists, and that I made the decision to take control of my health, so that I will hopefully have many more years to spend with my family!

*Wordful Wednesday (courtesy of Seven Clown Circus) is for those of us that like to showcase a photo(s) but that just can't seem keep our mouths shut about it(them). If you'd like to play along, post a photo on your blog, and let the words roll.

To Nag or not....

....that is my dilemma.

My hubby helps out around the house a lot. He's great with the kids. He's a great husband.

He doesn't smoke, or drink, or have any bad habits....except one.

It's his diet. He loves fried chicken, cheeseburgers, french fries, soda....total garbage.

I primarily eat a healthy diet since my weight loss surgery, but as someone who used to have major issues with food, I've tried to leave him alone and not nag him. I know how hard it is to struggle with food and eat healthy. I would still be eating a terrible diet if not for my weight loss surgery. So, I get it. And it's not about him losing weight; he's only moderately overweight and I swear from the bottom of my heart, it's not about that AT ALL. I love him with all my heart, exactly as he is.

BUT...here's the thing. His father died in his late forties due to complications of congestive heart failure.

That's FORTIES, people, as in 4-0-s, as in, J is already 31. The thought of losing him that early in life is terrifying to me....incomprehensible.

This past weekend we were talking about his dad, and I tried to subtly drop some hints that he should really start taking better care of himself. He's pretty active but we could always exercise more, too. He always agrees and says he's going to start eating healthy, and he starts off well but then goes back to the old habits.
So here's my question. I think if I stop buying him unhealthy foods and basically nag the crap out of him, he'll eat more healthy foods. At the very least, he'll only eat the crap occasionally instead of most of the time. But I don't want to be a nag. I'm not a naggy kind of person. I'm more the type to tell you what I think and then let you do what you want.
I also don't want him to think I'm nagging for any reason BUT the fact that I don't want to lose him at a young age. It's about his health....it's about his life.

So....please, tell me what you think. Should I nag, or not?

12.23.2008

I am unique. Just like everybody else.

OK, I know I'm not the only one who is very busy at this time of year. But I still feel like I have to let y'all know that I love you dearly, and it's not that I don't want to visit your blogs. I truly do. But there is just.no.time. And, I don't see it getting better very soon. So, I at least wanted to explain myself! It's not you, it's me, and all that stuff.

Oh, and I'll throw out some randomness while I'm at it.

* We are almost done with Christmas shopping. I just have to pick up a couple of things for my niece. We were able to get everything my kids wanted and more, thanks to my husband. His hard work paid off in the form of several bonuses. Which really helped out since their father is over a month behind on child support.

I am so grateful that this man I married doesn't hesitate to use all of his Christmas bonuses on "my" kids (when I told him that, he said honey, they're all our kids).
We are blessed.

* We also got gifts for the child we chose from the Salvation Army tree. It's important to us to share our blessings, and it's an important lesson to teach our kids.

* The kids will be with their Dad until Christmas afternoon, so right now it's just me and the hubby. We're going to throw tradition out the window and have seafood for Christmas dinner. We got these amazing, enormous shrimp at the Farmer's Market, and we're going to have fish and as yet undetermined side dishes. And I think this is going to be the beginning of a new tradition!

* Spiderman has gained seven pounds since moving back with us. Seven pounds. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy that he's putting on weight, sad that he was obviously underweight to begin with. He has a huge appetite for such a little guy!

* I went to the little kids' school on Friday and did Gingerbread & Cocoa with both the Princess and Spiderman. They both loved it, and one of the kids told Spiderman that he looks just like ME. Which is funny considering that (a) I'm his stepmother and (b) it's actually kind of true.

See?

There's definitely a resemblance, and why the hell are my eyes so huge?
Anyway.

* J's aunt took this picture and I just love it, so I wanted to share it with you.

That's the Princess, Spiderman, and a dog that J's aunt was dogsitting, on a tree at the park.

* Time for a little brag. Those of you who have been reading for a while, know of my weight loss journey I've been on for nearly a year now. And you know that I have lost over 110 lbs. So, I'm entitled to a small brag, right? Good.
My mom got me a new scrub outfit for Christmas. My current scrub size?
Extra small petite. If you know how far I've come, you'll allow this little brag! I think I've earned it. I'm still amazed by the changes.

* That's all the randomness my brain will produce at this moment. I know there's more stuff in there, but it will have to wait for another day. I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season, and I can't wait to catch up with everyone....probably next year!

9.09.2008

Drum Roll Please!

As of today, I have officially lost............
100 pounds!
::::happy dance::::

And I have to share with you what my stepson said to me this weekend. He hadn't seen me in a while and the last time he saw me, the weight loss wasn't as dramatic as it was this time. So after a while he looked at me and said, "You look shorter." And I said, "Shorter? Really?" And he said "Well......what do you call it when you do like this?"
And he spread his arms waaaaaay out as far as they would go, and then pulled them in about a foot apart!!
Hilarious! Best weight loss compliment ever.

Sending the Summer Out with a SPLASH!

This weekend was the last weekend the kids will be with me, before school starts. So yesterday, I took them to the Springs. Hubby was working, so it was just the four of us.

T-bone...I'm pretty sure he was praying that I didn't kill him after he splashed me IN THE FACE.

Photobucket

The Princess, throwin' up the peace sign.

Photobucket

Moody Preteen Ladybug smiles for the camera...

Photobucket

I was hoping for ONE good pic of the three of them, but nooo, I get tongues stuck out, goofball faces, and some guy's ass in the background.

Photobucket

Jumping in!

Photobucket

Such a deceptively sweet, innocent smile. This is the Princess on the playground.

Photobucket

It was beautiful, relaxing, and a lot of fun.

And...I've mostly been posting my weight updates here, but as of today I've lost 92 lbs. (the last 2 lost even with Aunt Flo and her bitchy sisters visiting!). Doing great, feeling fantastic, and loving it!

Here's a recent pic:

Here's a before pic, for comparison. This was taken on Halloween of 2007.
Ugh!

Babble-On

I barely know which end is up these days! Things have been so busy, at home and at work. I haven't had time to post or read many blogs, and I'm so behind. I miss reading your blogs and hope to catch up very soon.
I forgot to mention this in my last post, but at the same festival I mentioned in that post, I found out that a former boss of mine had died. (it was a really emotional festival! geez)
When my ex and I first seperated, I got a job cleaning houses. It's not easy to rejoin the workforce after being a SAHM for years. But my friend worked for this guy cleaning houses, and got me a job there. I expected to hate it, but I loved it, and the boss was part of the reason for that. He was hilarious, and I worked directly with him and another girl much of the time. We had way too much fun. He was an awesome boss. He finally sold the business and fully retired, and died 2 months later from complications post-heart surgery. I still can't quite believe it.
But otherwise, life is good. As of yesterday I have lost 62½ lbs. 62½ POUNDS, peeps! Gone forever. I am still amazed. I have met goals and I weigh less than I have in a very long time. I'm incredibly happy and proud of myself! I am working very hard and it's paying off. I eat very healthy foods and I feel good about treating my body better than I ever have. I drink water and skim milk only. I've never eaten this healthy in my life! I watch others eating desserts and crap food and am so thankful I made this change in my life.
NONE of my clothes fit, I'm going to do a little shopping this weekend. I hate to buy much, since it'll be too big in a couple of weeks, but it's getting ridiculous...I look like a clown! I'm not bragging......oh hell, maybe I am!
I've also inspired two co-worker/friends to get help with their weight loss efforts. Yay!
This weekend, we're planning on going camping in St Augustine. But, it's Memorial Day weekend and I'm not having much luck finding a campsite. So if you're in the area and you see a tent on the side of the road, honk & wave!
We had planned on going for Mother's Day weekend, but the van needed a tire and the kid needed glasses. So, that took priority, because of this whole "we're grown-ups now" thing. WhatEVER!
But this weekend should be a go. And that's good; I'm very much in need of a get-away.
And I am SO going shopping!
That's the recap; hopefully I'll get back in the swing of blog life very soon.

Get Moving Monday!

Get Moving Monday is courtesy of The Mombabe.

It moved!
The scale, that is.
It was STUCK for the longest time. Around 10 days, I think. And I know I shouldn't weigh every day. But, I do.
And it finally moved! First one pound, then another. YAY!!!
I am now at ~52.5 lbs, GONE FOREVER!!!
WOOHOO!
