Friday Night Fragging....

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was a nice one for us overall.
My oldest son spent most Thanksgiving day with his girlfriend, which reminded me that (a.) I'm getting old and (b.) not only will I always have to share holidays with the kids' dad, but eventually their spouses, in-laws, etc. I vow to never be the one stressing them out and demanding time....if we need to celebrate a holiday the day before the holiday or the weekend after, so be it. It's all about being together anyway!

So now after a busy week with a full house, I am all alone. John is at work and the kids are with their dad for the weekend. Instead of rushing around getting things done and trying to talk to at least three people at one time, I'm sitting in a quiet house, just me and one dog, watching What Not to Wear. I'm trying to decide whether to clean the house and enjoy it not getting dirty again immediately, eat dinner without interruption, take a shower and actually have time to shave my legs....or just take a nap!

Speaking of the dog.....earlier today, Sofia chewed up a tube of Krazy Glue! Now this is the dog who gets into food a lot....she's eaten 2 birthday cakes and several loaves of bread. But she's never eaten/chewed on anything that wasn't food before. I don't know what got into her! She's fine, but it was pretty amusing to watch her when her lips were all sticky and stiff.

Have you started your Christmas decorating yet? I'm thinking of starting this weekend....

Did you do the Black Friday thing? I didn't...I don't...ever. I'm afraid I'd end up getting arrested. I have a serious lack of patience, I hate crowds, and I hate rude people. I just don't think it would be pretty! I drives John crazy because he loves to shop, and the thought of all the deals we're missing out on just breaks his heart. So I told him next year, he's welcome to go by himself! We'll see if that happens......

Speaking of shopping......on Wednesday I scored a Vera Bradley wristlet at a thrift shop for four bucks! Now THAT is my kind of shopping!

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday & I hope you have a great weekend!

It's All About Me(ep)

Well helllooo, bloggy friends!

It's me, Meep!

I've taken over Mom's blog to show you what I've been up to lately.

This is a picture of me and my hooman, Elayna.

But you've seen her before, and really, hoomans are pretty boring.

So today's post is all about me and my dog, Sofia.

Sofia loves me.

She is very gentle with me.

Look! I am SO ferocious.

Really! I am vicious!!

Also, I am a little annoying.

Sofia? Where you go??

In other news:

The other day, Mom decided she was going to give me a bath.
I decided OH NO SHE WAS NOT.
Since Mom does not speak Cat,
I communicated my wishes by digging my claws
deeply into the tender skin on her chest.
Just above her breast.
Mom said BAD words.
But guess who won??
No bath for Me(ep)!!!!!

Happy Wordful Wednesday to youuuu!

She was loved.

We adopted our newest dog, Sofia, from a rescue group earlier this year.
Now that we have learned to keep all food and garbage out of her reach (she was a bit of a counter-surfer), she is the best dog ever. Her behavior is perfect. She is sweet and obedient. And I can't figure out how she ever ended up in rescue, because the thing that almost haunts me is....sometime, somebody loved her.
I don't just mean took care of her, I mean truly loved her.
She knows the sit command, and sits for a treat without being told to. She knows "shake". She never gets on the furniture unless invited on. She knows what "car ride" means, and she LOVES them. If we ask her if she wants to go on a car ride while we're inside the house, she runs to the door, and as soon as we open the door, she runs outside, goes potty, and then runs to the car.
(she prefers the passenger seat to the backseat!)
I have no doubt that she was once a beloved pet, and I wish she could talk to me and tell me about that person who loved her, and how she got separated from that person. I wonder if they are looking for her, or missing her.
I wish I could tell that person how much we adore her, and how happy she is now. That we take good care of her, and we love her like that person did.
Because there is no doubt in my mind that she was loved.

Weekend WrapUp

'Twas a good weekend...a very good weekend!

On Friday, the little kids were spending the nights with their grandparents. Tim had to work, and Shelbie was at home. I wanted to go play Bunco with some ladies from church...but I ended up sleeping instead! I got so little sleep last week, I really needed to catch up. When I did get up, Shelbie and I hung out and watched My Sister's Keeper. (I'm still mad that they changed Jodi Picoult's original ending!)

On Saturday, Shelbie went fishing with a church group. With fake nails on. She was the only girl in the group! That girl is a mess. After we picked her up, we picked Elayna up from my parents' house and took both girls out to lunch and to the mall (Tim was working). Shelbie got her eyebrows waxed for the first time! That was fun. Then Shelbie had another activity, an Acteen's sleepover. Then we had a movie night again.

On Sunday, I got up early and cooked breakfast (that's rare, I am SO not a morning person. Cereal is my friend!). But then, I wasn't feeling well so I laid down and John and Elayna went to church! They brought Shelbie home from there and fortunately when I got up, I felt better. We took Elayna to softball practice and did some grocery shopping. (Tim was working - AGAIN! He never gets enough hours, then when he does they're all when he's with me! Grrr)
Sunday afternoon - I decided to walk the new dog, Sofie. She somehow gets her collar very loose, and I didn't notice she'd done it. She slipped out of her collar and took off! This is twice I've chased her down the road. I had shoes on that were NOT compatible with running. I was not a happy camper! Fortunately, John was coming back from picking up Andrew, and came around the corner at JUST the right time. He got her in the car and we took her home. My neighbor had jumped in his car to help me too.
Needless to say, we WILL be getting Sofie a new collar! Sure, I need the exercise, but that is NOT my idea of a good time.

On Sunday night, we were watching TV and we got a call from Andrew's Math teacher, Mr. Andre, telling us that Andrew made a 100% on a test! He said he was very proud of Andrew. I was so impressed that he called! Andrew pointed out that if you added a "W" to Mr. Andre's name, you'd have HIS name, to which John replied, "Your name is not Wandre!" Ba-da-bump!

Hope you had a great weekend, link up if you posted about it!

Fan-Fragging-Tastic Friday!

Mommy's Idea

Do you know what time it is? If you've been reading here for any length of time, you do. It's Friday Fragment Time, courtesy of Mrs 4444's! It's been a busy week and I am ready to dump my Frags on ya!

~* Finally, finally, FINALLY we have an IEP in place for Andrew! Hallelujah, this is a huge weight off of my shoulders, especially since standardized testing starts next week. Also, we have an appointment for extensive IQ & specific learning disability testing for him. Hallelujah again!!!

~* Yesterday, my oldest son Tim locked his keys in the TRUNK of his car. That was a good time, let me tell ya! Thank goodness for AAA Plus, and a weird locksmith who complimented my driver's license photo! Seriously?

~* Yesterday, I learned that our new dog is quite intimidating. I took her outside and she saw something that caught her eye. She began to bark and run towards it, breaking her leash as if it were made of string. As I chased after her, I saw the guy across the street, who'd been standing out in his yard, RUN full steam ahead into his house! Muah ha ha! I love that she's intimidating; I want her to protect our home and kids. He doesn't need to know that she's a total mush who wouldn't harm a flea!

And now it's time for....Facebook Faves!

These are a few of my favorite posts from Facebook this week.
Me:
I am so tired Im talking nonsense. BUT!! I am eating bacon, and bacon makes everything better.

And my daughter quoted me on her Facebook:

Catching Up

So...I blew it. I blew NaBloPoMo. I can't believe I almost made it and then blew it! Ugh.
I was off on Thursday night, and was SO busy on Friday...that I didn't realize until very late last night that I hadn't even Fragged! A week without fragging is a week without getting my thoughts together. I guess I'll sort of mini-frag today.

~ * Yesterday was the two year "Surgiversary" of my gastric bypass surgery. I'll be doing a full post on that, but I just had to mention it and say, it's been a great 2 years. I feel like a new person. I've had zero problems, and am so glad I had the surgery! I've lost 120 lbs. total, to date, and I feel great!

~* My bloggy friend Nancy's baby, Kara Faith, passed away yesterday. Please keep the family in your prayers. You can read about her here, and I'm sure the family would appreciate your kind words of support.

~* One reason we were so busy yesterday, is that we were preparing for our new family member, whom we brought home this morning! Her name is Sofia, and we are in love. She is a five year old boxer mix and we adopted her from a rescue group. She sits, she shakes, and wags her whole back end when she's happy, boxer style. She is a very sweet girl who was very mistreated, and we're so happy to give her a good life. She's also quite photogenic!

~* OK, I'm off now to enjoy a very low-key relaxed weekend with John & our (pet) zoo.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
