A Dysfunctional Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Schmandrew. Schmandrew knew a very, very mean lady. In fact, she was a Wicked Witch. Schmandrew had to live with the Wicked Witch! And she was very mean, evil and nasty.

Finally, Schmandrew got away from the Wicked Witch and went to live with another family at a Happy Home. This family had a witch, too. But she was a Nice Witch. (at least, unless you messed with her family...then? Watch out!)

And Schmandrew was very happy. The Wicked Witch disappeared and Schmandrew hoped he'd never see her again.

But then one day, years later, the Wicked Witch came back! Schmandrew remembered how mean and wicked and nasty she was, and he was very sad. He didn't want to see her, but he had to. It made him so upset, he had terrible nightmares. He dreamed that the Wicked Witch broke into his Happy Home late at night and stole him away. He worried day and night. He cried and was so very sad.

But then one night after he fell asleep, Schmandrew heard a terrible noise. It was the Wicked Witch! She came into his house....but then out came the Nice Witch, and she defeated the Wicked Witch! She poured water all over her, and the Wicked Witch cried "I'm meeeelting!"

And then she was gone. And they all lived happily ever after.

At least, until they woke up the next morning.

But the Nice Witch really hopes that, one day, this dream comes true!

{virtual} coffee

<Photobucket

I've been seeing these {virtual} coffee posts up recently, and I wanted to join in, but I never remembered until it was too late. Because that's how I roll. But finally, as I was sitting here with writer's block, I remembered in time to join in. So I visited the blog that hosts {virtual} coffee, and fell in love. Go check out Lucky Number 13 - I bet you fall in love too.

First of all, if we were having coffee, we'd probably be at Starbucks. Because I don't make coffee at home. Second, it would probably be in the afternoon. Because I am not an early riser. I would be drinking something with lots of sugar and caramel and vanilla and yumminess. I don't really want my coffee to taste like coffee! Once we got our coffee, we could get down to chit-chat.

Tonight after the kids' soccer practice, I'm going to our Ladies' Bible Study for my church. I usually don't go; weeknights can be so hectic. But I need this; I think it will be good for me.

Did you realize that Mother's Day is THIS weekend? Because I did not. It works out well though, because the kids will be home this weekend.

I can't believe we've only been in our new home for a little over a month. It feels like forever! We really like it here. My garden is coming along nicely. We're starting to see pears popping out on the pear tree. Do you have any good pear recipes?

We have so much going on in our lives. Besides the stressful stuff....let's not even go there! My son is graduating in June. My niece is getting married later that month. And in September, my parents will celebrate their 50th anniversary! We're already throwing around ideas about that celebration. We want to surprise them.

What are your summer plans? We're hoping to spend some time at the beach & springs, camping and swimming. Maybe we'll be able to hit up an amusement park, too.

Well, all this hot coffee has made me thirsty. I need a Diet Dr Pepper!

See you next week!

It's May Day!

I like May; it's one of my favorite months. It's warm, it's Spring, the flowers are blooming, and my birthday is coming up in 10 days!

I'm starting off this month by doing something fun; the Getting to Know YOU meme from Keely @ MannLand5!

So here you go: Getting to Know ME.

the q's.

1. did you watch the royal wedding?
2. tea and crumpets or coffee and a scone?
3 who's cuter..prince william or prince harry?
4. can you speak in a english accent?
5. do you own a fancy hat?
6. would you rather live in a castle or an english cottage?
7. how old were you when prince charles and princess diana got married? were you even born?
8. have you found your prince?

----------------------------

1. I did not watch the wedding live, but I've seen a lot of clips of it over the weekend. It was beautiful, and I LOVE Kate's dress!

2. I love scones, the rest notsomuch.

3. Neither! Will is balding and Harry doesn't appeal to me at all, except his personality seems to be a lot of fun.

4. I certainly can, quite well in fact. Hubby and I do it all the time, especially when making fun of imitating his family (they're from Merry Old England).

5. No, I'm not much of a hat person and especially not a fancy hat person.

6. I would rather live in a cottage, but also own a castle for those fancy events.

7. I was 8 years old in 1981 when Princes Charles married Lady Di. I vaguely remember watching clips of their wedding.

8. I have definitely found my prince! It took me 30 years, but it was worth it. He loves me unconditionally, and I am so blessed. Here's a picture from my Not-Quite-Royal Wedding!
