Sunday in My City - Soccer Edition

OK, so technically these pictures were taken on Saturday. And it wasn't actually in my city. But let's not be picky, okay?

Unknown Mami

Spring Soccer season is officially over, with a roller coaster of an ending.

Their first game was at 11 a.m., and it was a fantastic game. Not only did our team win 7-0, but Andrew scored a goal with an AMAZING shot. Another teammate kicked the ball, the goalie blocked it with a great kick, which went straight to Andrew, who was in mid field. Andrew NAILED the ball and it flew straight into the goal. I literally sat there stunned for a moment, then jumped out of my seat screaming. The coach ran up and hugged me, which made me all teary-eyed, which seems to be a theme of my life at this point! All of the players and parents went wild. The teammates called Andrew their secret weapon, because he kicks with his left foot which catches people off-guard.

So needless to say, that was an awesome game. Afterwards, we had about 4 hours to kill in a very small town with practically nothing to do. We went to Subway for lunch with our friends whose son is also on the team, and John's mom, aunt, and grandmother. Then we went back to the field and watched some of the other games, and tried to keep cool in 94 degree heat!

Then came the second game of the day. The other team was good; so was our team. Both Andrew and Elayna played hard. The game ended with NO score. 0-0. When that happens, they have a 'shoot-out', where kids from each team attempt to kick goals and the one with the most goals wins. It was SO close, but the other team won; 3-2. Our goalie was incredibly disappointed, but he had played a fantastic game. They all played hard and had fun, the most important thing. They got their trophies and are very proud of themselves.

After the game, we took the kids to a new pizza buffet/game room that just opened in a nearby town, and they had a blast.

And now, I'm ready to crash. I'm glad soccer is over for the season, but I know in a few weeks I'll miss it! I'll have to find something else to occupy all my free time. (HA!)

Playing CatchUp

I know, I know; Friday is almost over and I am just now fragging. It's just that I have so much random stuff to post, and finally had a moment to sit down and post it!

I'm trying to get caught up, and starting (sort-of) fresh. So if I've missed anything, I'm sorry, I still love you, smooch smooch.
I am 'marking as read' everything in the reader that's older than one day, and clearing out the mailbox, to save what little is left of my sanity.

I am SO ready for summer break! I feel like life is full of running from this appointment to the next, picking kids up, dropping kids off, soccer practice, soccer games....then, starting all over again. I'm not complaining - I'm just TIRED!

I chose the ladybug dividers because today, after picking up the big kids from high school, I pulled into our lane to find Elayna (who had stayed home with John & Andrew) walking along the wildflowers, holding a ladybug. I love that girl SO much!!

Today I walked into the seasonal aisle of Walmart, which was full of graduation gifts. I immediately teared up, turned around, and walked away. Sigh.

Andrew: Mama, today one of my friends said something about Elayna that was NOT nice and it made me really mad.
Me: What did he say?
Andrew: He said "your sister is a BABE".
Me: Died.

Go check out what I've been cooking and snag some fun new recipes!

Melting My Mommy Heart

Okay, who unplugged Blogger yesterday?! That was insane!!

I couldn't even Frag. What the heck?!

So, this has to be rushed since Blogger was down all day yesterday. (gives Blogger the death look)

I was going to have a Girls' Night Out tonight with my BFFs from high school, but one of them is sick so we have to postpone. Bummer!

BUT! It will still be a great night. You see.....

Tonight is my oldest son Tim's Senior Prom. His tux is rented, his girlfriend's dress is purchased. He is going with his girlfriend, his friend Zack, and Zack's date. Last Thursday we were talking about where they were going to go for their pre-Prom dinner. I made a few suggestions of some of the nice restaurants in town.

And then, earlier this week, I got a text message from Tim. He asked me if I would cook chicken & dumplings for all of them on Friday night, and said that's what they all want to do for their pre-Prom dinner.

And I melted.

As y'all may know, especially if you read my Southern Loving Food Blog, I love to cook. And for me, it's more than just preparing a meal. Food is a way of taking care of my family, showing love, celebration........it's love on a plate. And the fact that they came up with this idea on their own, chose to do this for a special occasion, and are all looking forward to it so much (they have all told me that, separately, except for Zack's date, whom I don't know)......I am one proud mama. In fact, I'm kind of weepy about the whole thing, hopefully I won't embarass myself!

Oh - and both boys have not only offered but INSISTED on paying me.

So, I would not miss this chance for the world. Who could resist this face?

{Tim, 1995}

He's 18 years old. He graduates from high school next month. (I'm going to be a freaking WRECK.)

He's my firstborn and he's grown up in the blink of an eye. In my heart, he'll always be my baby boy. So it may not sound like a huge deal, but it means so much to me. And I can't wait!

Tomorrow my littles have their last soccer game, then the Tournaments will be the following weekend.

And Saturday afternoon is my niece's wedding shower! YAY!

Hope y'all have a great weekend! Visit Mrs 4444's for more Friday Fragments.

My Happy List

Photobucket

With the stressful stuff going on at Dysfunction Junction, I was really hoping for a weekend full of happy. And this weekend totally delivered!

1. After an insanely stressful day on Friday, I made it just in time to go to Girls' Night Out with the ladies from church. We had a great time; we had dinner and then saw Soul Surfer, which is a great movie; so much more than I expected! I enjoyed myself so much. I never do anything like that, I'm always at home with the kids, and I really needed it!

2. My teenage daughter Shelbie went out of town with her best friend, who is my best friend's daughter, this weekend. Shelbie's BFF is in Baton Competitions, and Shelbie went along with her. I am so glad her dad let her go; it's his weekend and since he only sees her every other weekend I wasn't sure if he'd want her to miss a whole weekend with him, understandably. She has been texting me all weekend and is having a blast! I love that these girls are so close; they remind me so much of me & my BFF! They are definitely their mothers' daughters.

3. This morning my Littles had a soccer game. Their team didn't win, but they played hard and I always enjoy their games, win or lose.

4. Afterwards, we went to my BFF's (same one mentioned above) son's birthday party. The Littles came with us. I got to hang out with my BFF and the kids played and had a great time.

5. It was a beautiful day and when we got home, we spent some time outside, doing some stuff in the yard and just soaking up the son. My two unhealthy addictions are Diet Dr Pepper and the sun! Ok, and chocolate. So that's three, but who's counting?

6. Yes, there's still more! Tonight John and I went to the burger place where my son works for dinner. We got there just before his break time, so he sat and had dinner with us! I love any extra time I can grab with my kids, especially the 18 year old.

7. One more - went to Winn Dixie for a few things; I had coupons and a sale list. I spent $30 and saved $20; not bad for a quick trip!

And now I'm sitting with the hubsicle, laughing at Parking Wars and just enjoying our night.
If only WEEKDAYS could be as wonderful as WEEKENDS!

Royal Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Well well well, the end of another week. I'd like to say 'another fantastic week', but I'd be lying. So let's just say 'week', and leave it at that.

The storms that ravaged Alabama last night are heading South. They are not predicted to be as bad where I am, but we are definitely seeing some effects. Right now it's cloudy, with thunder and lightning, but no rain. And we need rain!
My prayers are with the people affected by those horrific storms last night. What a tragedy.
*Update: I fell asleep while composing this. (What? It's perfect sleeping weather!) Anyway, it finally rained. The storms were loud & made the kids nervous, but we are safe & sound.

Royal Wedding: Are you interested? Me, only mildly. My in-laws will be up watching it though. In fact, they considered a visit back home to England so they could be there for the wedding, but decided against it. (I don't know why. I was only mildly interested in that story, too.)

Tonight I'm going out with some girls from church. Dinner and a movie! I never do stuff like this, and I'm looking forward to it.
Saturday the kids have a soccer game and then we're going to a birthday party. I'm hoping for another fun, relaxing weekend.

Speaking of which, I hope you have a good one too! Check out Half Past Kissin' Time for more Friday Fragments.

Robin Eggs - Way Better Than Chicken Eggs.

Mommy's Idea

It's been a busy week here at Dysfunction Junction! Doctor appointments, work, soccer, work, soccer, doctor appointments, did I mention soccer?......TGIF! My tired brain is ready to defrag.

I'm watching Swamp People for the first time tonight. I love this show...I absolutely love Cajun accents, and these people are hilarious. Right now Ma and Pa are cutting a bullet out of their son's arm. How did the bullet get there, you may wonder? Pa was shooting at an alligator and Junior got in the way!

We took Andrew to the pediatrician today and she asked him what he did over Spring Break. He said, "I went to the beach, and I went to Orlando, and I visited my Grandson..." He meant cousin! I have no idea how he got that mixed up, but we were all nearly rolling on the floor laughing - even the doctor!

Speaking of grandparenting - I'm not ready for grandkids, not for at least 10 years! But we haven't had a baby in our family in a long time. So I informed my niece, who is getting married in June, that I want her to go ahead and have a baby ASAP. Because that's totally my decision, right?

My Easter time obsession:

A lot of you commented on the Taylor Swift video I shared last week & the fact that I called her "T-Swizzle", so I thought I'd share this one this week in case any of you haven't seen it. I love it!! She's so freaking cute.

Have a wonderful weekend, my lovelies! And visit Mrs 4444s for more Friday Fragments.

Sunday in My City

Unknown Mami

This actually covers the whole weekend in my City!

It all started on Saturday, with a soccer game for The Littles, Andrew & Elayna.

They won 8-0! The team is doing great this season.

After the soccer game, we took the kids to a pizza buffet for lunch & did some shopping.

It was our 6th Anniversary.
For the first time ever, we left all of the kids at home alone and went out, just the two of us! We went to dinner & a movie. We had some time to kill in between, so we hung out at the mall & hit the photobooth.

We saw Insidious, and OMG it was so scary! Very good movie.
The kids did great while we were gone, the house was still standing and everything!
Today we went to church & then to our town's Spring Festival.
Elayna got her face painted like a cat!

Andrew ate a smurf.
Kidding, he ate a blue raspberry slushee.

My niece was with us, so I got a rare shot of the whole fam-damily.

We had a good time, I love living in a small town because you see everyone you know at these little festivals. I also bought a jasmine plant, mmmm I love that stuff!

Elayna and I have matching shirts, so we had our picture taken by this jasmine plant.

And now we are home, out of the heat - it was in the 90's today!

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Awards, Festivals, & Chupacabras - Oh My!

Mommy's Idea

I can't believe it's Friday already, this week flew by!

We live out in the woods now, and so far we have seen wild turkeys, rabbits, a deer....and a mysterious unknown animal. We're pretty sure it's a chupacabra.

We have a fun weekend planned. The littles have a soccer game tomorrow, then we're planning on taking the kids to lunch at a new pizza buffet place.
Saturday night, John and I are going out for our anniversary.
On Sunday after church, we're going to our town's Spring Festival. I love weekends like this! Simple, but fun.

I got a blog award this week! I love me some Katertot. Here's the award:

And I have to list 7 Facts about myself.
Hmmm....here goes.

1. I love to vacuum. It's a sickness, I know.
2. I eat way too many Whopper's Robin Eggs at this time of year.
3. My 18 year old son is drawing and coloring a bunny rabbit right now. Don't ask me why.
4. My anniversary with hubby is on Saturday! 6 years.
5. My toenails are almost always painted purple. It's my favorite color, and that way I'm always wearing purple. It makes me smile.
6. It's taking me almost an hour to come up with these seven things.
7. I love camping. We haven't camped in forever and I am SO ready to go again!

The song of the week is from my girl T-Swizzle! The girls & I have been jamming to this one all week. Enjoy!
