Friday Fraggin'!

Sometimes I wonder how I lived without Friday Fragments. All week when certain little things happen, I think, "Oh yeah, that's gonna be a Friday Fragment!". I decided to check back and see just how long I've been Fragging, and I found my first Friday Fragment post - from September 5th, 2008. I've been Fragging for over a year! I really look forward to writing these posts and again, I'm so glad Mrs 4444 hosts this every week for us.

Friday's Freewrite is another fun way to sum up your week and meet new bloggy friends.

So, here we go!

* I'm planning on making Rice Krispy treats this weekend for John. He LOVES them and I haven't made them in years, so I went to the Rice Krispies website to find the recipe. I discovered that they have a comment section, and there I found this hilarious little tidbit:

Man! - I really love the ones that crackle and the ones that pop, but on the other hand, I just cant stand the ones that snap. I have been trying to pick them all out but it takes for ever and they are REALLY hard to distiguish. anyone else feel me? what can I do? thanks in advance for any ideas. Buck

Buck, wherever you are, this cracked me right up!

* I wonder what it says about me that two of my favorite blogs are Chicken Nuggets of Wisdom and Life of a Tater Tot Mom ? I think it says I have excellent taste. *snort* (Check them out!)

* While riding in the car the other day, I was flipping through the radio stations and bypassed the song 'Pocketful of Sunshine'. Elayna said "Mommy! Turn it back! You like that song!" I replied, "Um, no, I actually do not like that song at all." Elayna: "Well then why have I heard you sing it?" Me: "Elayna, I can assure you that you have NEVER heard me sing 'Pocketful of Sunshine'. I am NOT a 'Pocketful of Sunshine' kinda girl." To which John chimed in: "Yeah, she's more like 'Pocketful of Demonic Thoughts'.
I wanted to be offended, but I was laughing too hard.

* The girls both won their games last night! I am so proud of them.

* Tomorrow starts the University of Florida's Homecoming festivities. We'll be going to the parade. We have a school holiday on this day every year. The parade is fun, plus we get to see Tim Tebow. Win/win!

* Speaking of wins! It's time to announce the winner of my Nut Clusters Giveaway. Elayna had her game tonight and then spent the night with my parents, so she wasn't available to draw the name of the winner. Bummer! I had to use the boring old Random Number Generator, which is not nearly as cute as Elayna. Here are the results:

And the 9th commenter was.....Allison from Life of a Tater Tot Mom! Congrats, Allison!

I hope you all have a Fantastic Fall weekend!

There's Gonna Be a Heartache Tonight, I Know

Actually, it's tomorrow night. The Gators play rival Tennessee. It's going to be a good game. We'll see who ends up with the heartache.....

*~ We'll be watching the game over at my Mom's house & visiting with her on Saturday. Also, I'm also going to start decorating our home for FALL! I can't wait, it's my favorite season.

*~ On Sunday after church, we'll be having Andrew's Friend Birthday party. We're doing a pirate theme (same as last year, but his birthday falls right around Talk Like a Pirate Day, and he loves it!). I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

*~ Elayna is going to start playing softball this season. Shelbie wanted to play too, but there aren't enough kids in her age group for a team.

*~ I'm in the process of trying to tweak my schedule so that I can be off in the evenings and have more time with the kids and the ability to attend their evening events. I'm so fortunate to have a boss who is very understanding and flexible about these kinds of things! They made a last-minute change yesterday for me, for that night's shift. I've had jobs in the past that were completely inflexible and uncaring. I'm really blessed!

*~ I'm seeing Kanye spoofs everywhere and they're hilarious, but this one is by far my favorite.

Take another little piece of my heart....

On Fridays, I join in with Mrs. 4444 and Sara and post Friday Fragments & Friday's Freewrite.
Little fragments of thoughts, bits of my life, pieces of my heart.

Ü On Saturday afternoon, I will be jumping up and down, screaming my head off, and drooling. I will be at the Gator game, watching this fine specimen of man play football.

Tim Tebow. Gator quarterback, outstanding Christian man, missionary, wonderful role model,....he is amazing. We've met him and he is every bit as nice in person as you would expect him to be.

He rocks my socks off.

Friday September 11th - I can't believe it's been 8 years since the World Trade Center attack. Prayers going out to all of those affected by the tragedy.

Ü Saturday September 12th is National Seat Check Saturday. Find out about the LATCH system here, and find a child seat inspection station here. There's nothing more important than keeping our babies safe! National Child Passenger Safety Week is September 12th-18th.

Sunday September 13th - Andrew's 10th Birthday. But this is our no-kid weekend. So we're going to have his party the following weekend. When he gets home Sunday evening, we'll have dinner (menu chosen by Drew) and a cake for him. (I'm going to attempt to get creative with my cake decorating....wish me luck!) I can't believe he'll be 10! When I met John, Andrew was only 4. Andrew has also been sick this past week. He had a bad cold & allergies. They tested him for Swine Flu but it was negative. He's been coughing his head off!

Ü For those of us Moms living in Central Florida, I found a great new social networking site called Central Florida Moms. It's a great place to meet other moms for anything from playdates to blog & twitter friends. (and you can make a fun badge in your choice of colors!)

♪ So come on, come on, come on....and take it....take another little piece of my heart yeah baby!
(I think September will be Musical Post Title Theme month over here. Something fun to change things up a little.)
Have a GREAT Weekend!

Friday Fragments

It's Friday, it's a holiday weekend, and Saturday is the start of the Florida Gator Football Season. Around here, that equals Good.Times.
It also equals Friday Fragments & Friday's Freewrite!

Last night was the littles' Open House. I somehow got sucked over to the PTA table, despite my attempts to avoid it. I'm pretty sure they used their zombie mind control on me. Anyway, I ran into a friend there who is going to be PTA Vice President. She was so excited to know I was willing to help her. Wait, I am willing to help? Woops. I got sucked in!

We're very much looking forward to our weekend. All the kids are home. Saturday we'll be hanging out and watching Gator football with my family, including some relatives who are down from Panama City. We'll get some more unpacking & organizing in the new house. And on Monday we plan to go to the beach.

I think, for the first time ever, we're going to have Cool Neighbors. For some reason, everywhere we've lived (and the good Lord knows we've moved enough *eyeroll*), we've never had very friendly neighbors. Either that, or they were weird. This time, even though we moved just three streets down, the atmosphere is totally different. We've already had several people introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood. And our next-door-neighbors are the ones who told us about the house. They are super-friendly and we've become fast friends. I also LOVE their golden retriever, Gator!

We're all so tired at work tonight that we're getting stupid. We're reading a story about a therapy llama that visits hospice patients, which lead to llama spitting concerns. I told them about the time that a mama goat spit on me because I was petting her baby, and we're all hysterically laughing. Then I told them about the time that my Mom, whose first name is Alma, got mail addressed to Lama. And the fact that we still laugh at her about that to his day. Now we're all laughing ourselves sick. We need to go to bed. Especially now that Spanking the Llama comments are coming out....

I got a fabulous award last week from one of my best bloggy friends, Tara from If Mom Says OK. Is this not the hottest award you've ever seen??

The rules are as follows:

“No one really likes rules, do they? I shall make mine simple. Make a cocktail, pick out some of your favorite bloggers. Send this award to 4 of them. Tell them why you think they give good blog. There are SO many fascinating, witty, and fantastic bloggers; let’s invite them all to the party.
Or you can just put it on your mantle and watch it sparkle. And if you think it sassy that I created my own Award, just consider it a grown up and virtual version of a friendship bracelet.”
Well, I'm posting my favorite shot recipe. I love me some Buttery Nipples!

INGREDIENTS
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger vodka
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger Irish cream liqueur
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger butterscotch schnapps
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger coffee flavored liqueur

DIRECTIONS
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the vodka, Irish cream, butterscotch schnapps and coffee liqueur. Shake well. Strain into shot glasses and serve.

And I'm passing the award along to these four wonderful bloggers, loyal friends who I just ♥!
Kel from Cafe Kel

Hope you all have a great, long weekend!

Friday = Fragments, Freewrite, Family, Free, Fun, Friends...and maybe some other "F" Words!

It's that time of week again, the time in which we dump our brains! My poor brain is small and gets full quickly. I need to dump it often. So I love Friday Fragments & Friday's Freewrite!

* So, there is this awesome blog called Boob Emancipation. Which may or may not feature pictures of ta-tas. Some of whose may or may not be mine. I'm just saying.
And I may or may not have a girl-crush on Why Mom Drinks Rum, too. She's the beautifulness.

* My friend just told me that she and some friends were eating pizza together. Friend 1 says, "Ow, I bit myself!" Friend 2 says, "Where?"
Dum dum dum!

* Tonight's Free Friday Concert is the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock Tribute. I'm thinking it's going to be verrrry interesting! Contact high, anyone?

* And then, it's camping for the weekend at the Springs. One last weekend of fun before school starts on Monday!

* My oldest child, Tim, will officially be a Junior in High School on Monday. How did that happen? Shelbie will be in the 8th grade (her last year of middle school!), and Elayna & Andrew will both enter the 3rd grade. (Andrew should be going into the 4th grade, but was held back a year when he was living with his bio-"mother". Don't even get me started on that whole story. Grr!) It's kinda cool to have 2 kids in the same grade. But Senior Year is going to kick our asses!
* Today marks 2 weeks of vegetarianism for me!
There. My brain is officially dumped. Now I'm off to read blogs so that I can refill it!

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit....

...it's finally FRIDAY!!

Helloooo, Friday! I am happy to see you, my friend.
I've actually had a great week at work. BUT, I need a rest. Life has been kicking my ass this week.
And, can I just tell you how much I really love Friday Fragments/Freewrites posts? I love doing them and I love reading others'. There's just something fun about the bits of thoughts, events, or funny things that end up in these types of posts. Thanks, Mrs 4444 and Sara!
§ Have you ever stepped back and looked at something that was annoying you or stressing you, and just burst out laughing at the absurdity of it all? I don't mean the big stuff - and I have the big stuff going on right now! - but the little stuff that is really so ridiculous when you think about it? Sometimes you just have to laugh.
§ I haven't eaten any meat in a week! And I haven't missed it at all, yet. My plan was just to slowly stop eating meat, but I haven't even wanted it so far. I'm looking forward to trying some new things this weekend as well.
§ This is the last week that the girls will spend with their Dad this summer. They'll come home Sunday and then go back to visiting their dad every other weekend. I am SO glad it's over! This was our first summer alternating weeks, and it has been hard. I have missed them SO much! One day this past week, we saw Tim & Elayna at the grocery store, and she squeezed me SO tight! I so wanted to bring her home right then. I miss them!
On the down side, Tim will go back to being with me only five days out of every two weeks (I get him every other Thursday and keep him until Monday). So, I will see a little less of him. But we'll still visit him at work often, since he works at the supermarket just down the road from us and we're there all the time.
And Andrew is still in the Keys. I wish I were there!
Overall, the summer has flown by, and I can't believe it's nearly over.
§ Stay tuned! I'm going to be doing two giveaways in the very near future. You don't want to miss them!
§ There are a few new blogs in my left sidebar....not new to me but new to the Blogosphere and they're pretty awesome - check them out!
Have a great weekend! See you on Twitter!

Friday Fragments/Freewrites 8.7.09

It's so nice to be back to the blogging routine! It's Friday and that means it's time for Friday Fragments/Freewrites.

~ We're going camping at the beach this weekend! We've been wanting to do this all summer and we're finally going. The only negative is that Tim has to work and can't go. I am SO bummed that he will miss out!
~ Last week we met with an in-home child care provider. We were looking for after-school care for Andrew & Elayna so that I can get more than 3-4 hours of sleep this coming school year. My friend Heather also came, she was looking for child care for her daughter Savanna. We were SO impressed with this provider! She has been in child care for over 15 years, has education in Special Needs children, and seems very committed to her work. She is also a vegetarian and serves only vegetarian food. The kids will be exposed to a different culture and I'm really excited about that. I think she'll be particularly good for Andrew. Elayna came with us to meet her and is very excited about going there after school.

~ Tonight we are going yet again to the Free Friday Concert, and the performer is Caitlin Eadie. She is a young country singer who grew up near our town, and she has opened for Tim McGraw and Lynyrd Skynyrd, among others! I think it's going to be a great show.

~ This week I discovered that one of the bloggers I follow, lives in my town! It's Manic Mother, and her sweet son Ezra has cancer. Their buttons are in my sidebar.
I am so excited to find her. Hopefully we will get to meet up at some point. I still have NEVER met another blogger friend in person! Is there anyone else reading who lives in or near Gainesville, Florida? (I think it's pretty obvious that I live near there, by now.)

~ The foster mama and her kittens got spayed/neutered on Wednesday and will be at Petsmart all weekend. One of my nurse friends is probably going to adopt the black & white girl. The mama is a sweet, pretty calico and her two boy kittens are orange. Hopefully they will find good homes this weekend!

~ This just made me laugh, so I had to share it with y'all! It actually looks just like our orange foster kittens.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Awesome/Not Awesome

It's a two-fer today - Friday Fragments and Friday's Freewrite! If you join in, be sure to visit Half Past Kissin' Time and/or Ordinary and Awesome to link up.
My personal theme today is:

Awesome/Not Awesome.

Awesome:

§ My friend Heather is splitting up with her boyfriend. They live(d) together, and since things are ending, it's kind of awkward at home, so she is spending a lot of time at my house. She cleans, helps with the kids, and she cooks. Friends - I.have.a.wife.!! And it's awesome. And I may never let her leave.

Not Awesome:

§ "Someone" allegedly her ex who is innocent until proven guilty smashed the crap out of her car. Jumped on the roof, shattered her windshield, dented it all over. What.an.ass.

Awesome:

§ My oldest two kids are going to a church camp in Virginia this coming week.

Not Awesome:

§ My kids will be out of state, without family, for a whole week, for the first time ever! And I will miss them!

Awesome:

The customer in the truck ahead of me at the Chick fil A drive-thru this morning.

OK, so there was a hooman driving, but it's pretty awesome that it totally looks like the dog was handling everything from this angle.

Not Awesome:

TV hauling FAIL.

And these are all just awesome. They make me laugh and I hope they'll make you laugh too!

(courtesty of Criggo...check it out, that blog cracks me up!)

Have a great weekend!
