All I Really Need to Know, I Learned from Country Music

Country music gets a bad rap. People think of it as nothing more than rednecks crooning about their dog dying, their woman leaving, and their truck rolling off of a cliff.
And certainly, there are those songs. This one being my personal favorite.
But truly, there are jewels of wisdom to be found in many country songs.
Like the chorus of this Billy Currington song:

God is great, Beer is Good....and People are Crazy.

Were truer words ever spoken?

And these words to live by from Van Zant:

It's better to be hated for who you are than beloved for what you're not.

Almost every line of the Lee Ann Womack song, I Hope You Dance, is quotable, but I like this one especially:

I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean;
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance...
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I Hope You Dance.

This Rascal Flatts song is also full of inspirational lines, and the chorus makes me cry every time.

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

And one of the best of all is from Kenny Chesney & Dave Matthews:

And today you know that’s good enough for me
Breathin' in and out's a blessing can’t you see
Today is the first day of the rest of my life
I'm Alive, and Well.

Are there any song lyrics that are especially meaningful to you?

All these songs are great ones. I think I say "people are crazy" every day and when I do I always manage to bust into that song. Although I have never tried beer...but people are definitely crazy.

I love the songs you picked Cyndy. They're some of my favorites too. I'm old fashioned and love almost anything by Willie Nelson but my all time favorite is called the Hill Country and is from the musical about LBJ. I want it played at my funeral. Here's the chorus but the whole song is just absolutely beautiful.

I'm not into country yet I have nothing against it. I know that the songs are from the heart. Actually my favorite is still and always will be "What a Wonderful World" Louis Armstong.

I love them all...Rascal Flatts is one of my favorites, but here lately my favorite has to be George Straits new one "the Breath you take"...

Lifes not the breaths you take
The breathing in and out
That gets you through the day
Aint what it's all about
Ya just might miss the point
Try'n to win the race
Lifews not the breaths you take
But the moments that take your breath away.

Ohhh I love all those songs!
And I love the line of My Wish "If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile" I'm lucky, people tell me I have a memorable smile, a 1000 watt smile, and it makes a difference!

Because no matter how horrible I may feel, how rotten treatments get me down, and how evil the world may seem....SMILE, because sometimes the world does seem cold, and when you smile, people smile back, and when my babies smile at me...it all melts away!

I'm not a huge country music fan, but I can honestly say that they sure do have amazing lyrics! Some of the best are from this genre.

ok here are some lyrics that are special to me:

I see the crystal raindrops fall
and the beauty of it all is when the sun comes shining through

To make those rainbows in my mind when I think of you sometime
And I want to spend some time with you

Mine and my Husband's favorite country artist is George Strait. When my Husband was leaving for AIT and especially since he's been gone to Afghanistan this year, George's song "Carrying Your Love With Me" is really meaningful.

Cause I'm carrying your love with me
West Virginia down to Tennessee
I'll be movin' with the good Lord's speed
Carrying your love with me
It's my strength for holding on
Every minute that I have to be gone
I'll have everything I'll ever need
I'm carrying your love with me

I'm with ya on the country music!
There's a Rascall Flats song that I just love. Not sure if this is the correct name but, "To Get To You". Love that song.
And the Miranda Lambert song..."Gun Powder and Lead".
Yep, that's me. Not that I would shoot someone, but I'm definitely one to fight back if necessary. LOL
