This weekend, John and I were on our way out the door for a walk and I impulsively grabbed my camera. I'm glad I did, because I came up with an idea for today's Sundays In My City.
Then & Now!
There has been a lot of growth in my little town in the last few years, and with that has come changes & improvement.
Here are a few examples:
this is our old public library...
the older kids and I visited here many times.
{the building is still there, but now sits empty, except on Halloween it's used for a Haunted House!}this is our beautiful New Library...which we all visit very often.
{and this is the pretty stained glass window above the door.}
the old City Hall building was torn down, and in its place is this grassy area.
the old post office has been converted to a church...we used to do all of our postal business here...
now you'd never guess it used to be the post office!
this is our old Police Station...
I was fingerprinted here when I first started working in child care...
{I was clean, I promise!}

{I was clean, I promise!}

Change and growth can be good,
{although I still hope they don't put a W*l*M*rt here}!
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

Wonderful, you gave us a little bit of history through you photos. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, they look like great improvements. Growth & change can be good.
We LOVE the library and will be getting a new and improved version in the next year or so. Can't wait!
It's amazing how much changes...sometimes in just a few months!
That was a great idea! And I like your new library.
Great post! I love the contrast.
fun post... love the old and the new... ;)
My town buildings all look like they should be somebody's before pictures and not the current pictures LOL
Ha..your comment saying has me singing that 80's song..lol
I love then and now photos and your town has done alot of changing. The buildings are really pretty. I cant belive you don't have a wal-mart there..they are everywhere in the states!
Wow, change can be beautiful!!!
Our little town is growing as well. There have been rumors of a Wlmt for years but no building yet. We are suppose to get a Walgreens and a Les Schwab's this spring though.
Thanks for taking the time to show us the comparisons-- What a wonderful difference.
And I'm with you on the giant chains :-( They take the small town charm and business away.
Thanks for sharing your city!
Hope your week is good.
