On Thursday, things were very stressful in our world. Although things were considerably looking up by Friday, we were still feeling the stress. John and I decided that floating down a river would be a great stress reliever.
So, we went to Ichetucknee Springs. We pitched our tent at the campsite, rented our tubes, and commenced to floating. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We saw fish, of course; turtles; and two wild hogs!
Once we got back to camp, a storm came. Not just an ordinary Florida summer storm...a torrential downpour. But it was all good, because the campground has a tavern, with two gamerooms. I actually beat John at Air Hockey! Well, the first time anyway. We won't discuss the other two times. I may or may not have gotten my drink on at the tavern. Let's just say that a drink called Orange Dream tastes exactly like Orange Dreamsicles. OMWord.
Fortunately, they also serve food, since grilling was not an option. And we were very lucky to only have a tiny amount of water in our tent; some peoples' tents flooded. It turned out to be a great night!
Now we're back to reality, but refreshed and with a better outlook. The kids are home too, which makes me a happy Mama.

Don't forget today is Meatless/Meat Free Monday! We are having pizza because I don't feel like cooking. Meatless pizza, of course! And I am at day 10 of eating no meat. So far, so good!

One of my blog friends, Jesica, is battling cancer and got some very bad news last week. I can't even begin to imagine what she and her family are going through. Please visit her, offer support, and prayers, good thoughts, whatever you have to offer. Jesica's Journey

Orange Dream, huh ? I'll have to try that!
I'll go see Jesica...
Go buy some soy beans. They come in the pod, you microwave, then snack. They are WONDERFUL!! Great source of protein.
I used to love camping. We have some beautiful campgrounds this way too. I need to get my peeps outside.
One of my fams favorite dinners is twice baked potatoes with broccoli cheese sauce. Ymmm...
I am not a camper!!!
Yay for the kids being home....day 10 without meat..you go girl!
Sounds like a great recharge weekend before the girls come home & back to school.
Great job on the meatless thing- I would go meatless all the time but Dr freaks out if there's NO MEAT in his meal.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend...I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
Glad you had a nice weekend and the 'trip away' helped you reclaim your sanity.

I love, love, love canoeing! It's the only reason I like camping - although I've never camped near a tavern... Sounds like a lot of fun!
Who knew rain could be so much fun?! Glad you and John had a great night camping! :-)
I love reading your camping adventures Cyndy.
Wow, that sounds like a super fun time!! I used to go rafting all the time when I was in college...I miss it! I can't wait until my kids are old enough to do it!
Veggie pizza is the best!!! Yum!
I'm gonna go visit your friend...so sad.
Now THAT'S my kind of campground. A built in tavern. Who'da thunk it?
Girl you crack me up!!!! Might have been drinks involved *wink wink*.
Glad you had a good weekend with your man, you need to get away every now and then!!!
Proud of you for your meatfree ways!!! :)
I was just at a funeral last week for a young mom who has completed her battle with cancer. It is such a horrible disease. :( :( :(
I think I'd like a float down that river. But no downpour please!
As I told Jessica, it is so bizarre to be well enough to post, yet be told it's "time to get your affairs in order." That's so wrong.
