No More Eating Things With Eyes (except taters...)

Quick weekend post -

I've made a big, life-changing decision this weekend. I'm going to transition to a vegetarian diet.

I need all the help I can get! So if you are a vegetarian, or just have good tips or recipes....I'd really appreciate your help!

And if you're interested in the reasons behind my decision, feel free to email me. I plan to blog about it but I'm not sure how soon I'll get to it. There are so many good reasons to go vegetarian though, besides the obvious. I can't believe I am 36 years old and was totally unaware of so many things.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

I have got a half dozen friends who keep trying to convince me to give up my carnivore ways, but I just can't. A good steak always gets me.

Good luck, hon! I couldn't do it but I'd love some great ideas for veggie meals!

Alrighty! I've been vegetarian forever, though I still like my dairy for now... One thing I've recently found is the vegetarian forum on sparkpeople - some great stuff there. And I recently got a free copy of The Full Plate Diet book and I'm excited about - and it advocates mostly vegetarian, too: http://www.fullplatedietbeta.org/

i toy with vegetarianism and have been that way most of my adult life. i rarely eat red meat but when i do its usually in the form of a hot dog or (my weakness) bacon, especially the blt. sigh. i love you blt.

the internet is your friend on this one---there are some amazing meat free recipes on the web. have fun. oh, and make beans your friend! ;)

Good luck Cyndy! I know you can do it. My sister Kelly was a vegetarian for about 2 years but had to quit because of having Thalasemia. She really loved following the diet while she was able.

I was a vegetarian for like 7 years but have been a meat eater since right before getting pregnant with my first kid. Good luck on your adventure. My only problem was eating too much pasta...but I loved it!

Ohhh Good Luck with the transition. I have a million really yummy recipes...from Watermellon Tomato Salad, to a Couscous salad to a artichoke spinach lasagna to a squash fratata! (how ever you spell it)a broccoli salad! Really good stuff, and I also have super easy recipes that are for veggies but really easy to convert with a little add of chicken or meat if you are cooking for meat eaters too! So let me know if you are interested I'll email them to you, or email me with your favorite veggies and fruits and I am sure I have a recipe for it! =)

I have the MOST delicious vegetarian recipe ever. I do eat some meat - but not much at all. This recipe I cook all of the time in huge batches because not only do I love it, but my girls do to - and that's a huge thing here. Anyway, let me find the recipe and I'll email it over to you ASAP.

I'm not a vegan, but I love veggies. Probably mostly eat chicken and fish whenever it's available. Steak, when I crave it, but I rarely crave red meats.

Good luck with the vegan diet! Looking forward to reading your posts about it.

I really hope it goes well for you. I'll be anxious to hear your progress, high and low spots. And I'll probably email you for more info/background. Take care.

Wow, good for you. I don't think I could do it - I'm a total meat lover. But keep us posted. I'm interested to know how it goes for you. I have a friend who just had a gastric bypass and she's been giving a play by play on her blog. When you see what it's like in the real world, it really gives you a good idea about whether or not you'd want to do it or not.
