Tying the Knot

In all the busy-ness of the holiday, I forgot to post about some happy news that we received.

My niece is getting married!

My niece, Heather, got engaged for Christmas.
She is 22 years old and is one of my best friends. We both work at the same hospital, she has lived with me in the past, I used to pick her up from high school every day....we are very close.
(although she is a STINKIN' brat!)

My girls think she is the greatest thing in the world. They are SO excited about all of the wedding stuff!

The date is set for June 18th, 2011 so we have lots of time for planning.
She is thinking of going with a cherry blossom theme. I did a Google image search for "cherry blossom wedding theme" and I absolutely died. Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff!
Check this out -

*sigh* *swoon*
I want to get married again!
(to the same guy, of course. John's not getting rid of me that easily!)

If I ever get rich, I think I'll get married once a year. Different theme and location every time. How fun would that be?

Tell me all about your wedding! Theme, colors, location...I want it all.

I worked for the HIlton so we were married in a large suite, with light peach and white as our colors.

Cherry Blossoms are a great theme!! We did a color theme - hot pink, black and white - and it turned out really great! Thankfully my wedding planning past got me great vendor contacts and everything turned out FAB!

Love the cherry blossoms and congrats to your niece!

Hubby and I had a church wedding the first time around...our colors, purple and silver. I so would have had a smaller wedding though. On our 5 year anniversary we had a renewal and plan to do it every five years. It's so special to remember why we are married.

Congrats to your niece! And I do love love the cherry blossoms. My wedding was on the water so it was very summery, light, and simple. Lots of white and TONS of candles for when the sun went down. I felt like I was in a fairytale. If I did it again, I don't think I'd change a thing. Except my dress. I'd wear a more princessy gown with an enormous tulle filled bottom.

I love weddings. They make me all dreamy!

How exciting! This is going to be so much fun. I love the Cherry Blossom theme. My wedding was so many years ago, nothing to write home about. I have heard several great idea from my kids who have been going to weddings over the last few years.
1. Cupcakes for cake
2. Candy table
3. One of those photo booths for people to take pictures in!

Congratulations to your niece...that is SO exciting!! The cherry blossom theme sounds very unique...I bet it will be beautiful!

I've been married twice and my 2nd wedding, by far, was more memorable (for obvious reasons) but my parents practically planned my entire 1st wedding for me so it wasn't everything I had dreamed of. I remember walking down the aisle and thinking WTF am I doing??

With my 2nd wedding, we paid for everything ourselves so we had the final say on every detail. It was a beautiful wedding. My colors were red, black and white...even though it was a summer wedding, I thought those colors were very classic and elegant.

With the food we served at the reception, we had a mashed potato bar..it was so awesome and friends still rave about it. The guests each received a couple scoops of mashed potatoes in a large wine glass and then as they went through the buffet, there were bowls of various toppings they could put on the potatoes, like bacon, green onions, cheese, sour cream, broccoli, various seasonings, etc.

I love weddings too...we happened to see a wedding taking place at a local park once and I made Tim stop and watch the entire thing with me, even though we didn't know the people!

Just doing some blog surfing. Given the name of your blog, you might like the little cartoon I made for my latest post. (Sorry, I know it appears to be a shameless plug, but I'm really not trying to sell you anything.)

Hi from SITS! I also love the Cherry Blossom theme! I had my wedding last Summer in August...did the eggplant, bright green and ivory colors, which ended up looking fabulous! Choosing colors is so hard b/c you change your mind and second guess yourself like 100 times...but just choose and stick with it! Good luck!
Hope to see you at POM sometime!

AHHHHH!!! That theme is absolutely beautiful! LOVE IT!!!! WOW!

I wish I could do my wedding all over again too. I feel like I have much better taste now than I used to. Ah well. ;)

Come to think of it. I might just change the dresses and the cake. I really loved my wedding. :)

Yay! Congrats to your niece! That's such great news. I love that cherry blossom theme, it's so gorgeous. Hubby and I never had an actual wedding, just went to city hall, and I'm hoping one day to have an actual wedding. Who knows, maybe cherry blossoms might just end up in our theme, he he! Thanks for sharing! Nice to have you visit my blog today!

Aw, young love! Is there anything better?

We got married on the 4th of July and had a red, white and blue theme.

Congrats to your niece! The cherry blossom thing is really in right now! We're doing a winter wonderland theme, and our colors are navy, black, silver, and cream. Our wedding is at our catholic church which is over 100 years old, and our reception is at a community theatre that's over 90 years old. CAN'T WAIT! only 23 days!

Ugh. My wedding totally sucked {not getting into it right now}. But my marriage is good and that's better than the reverse!

Oh wow! The Cherry Bloosoms look lovely.

I had a very bland wedding in a fire hall. I've made Russ promise we will renew our vows in a church for our 20th (which is in 2016!)

I had a really nice wedding - outdoors at a B&B with a tent at one end of the property for the reception and the wedding at the other end. My theme was sort of a chinese theme - but just barely lol Red and Yellow were the main colors - I asked my sisters to each buy a red dress as my bridesmaids. They bought them the same day so they looked great together, even though they were not the same dress. My favors to all the guests were a couple of fortune cookies. It was inexpensive and delightful! I bought a giant box of fortune cookies at Gordon's Food Service for $15.

My best idea for my wedding - I had pie instead of cake. 16 pies, 8 different kinds. I found out that men love pie. I had less than one pie leftover.

It was a real nice wedding - and I planned the whole darned thing in 8 weeks because I procrastinated. Once I thought up the fortune cookie idea, it all came together.

Congrats to your niece and the whole family :) I think cherry blossoms are a great idea.
