"I'm in some weird house filled with dogs and strange people. Send help!"
"What is this place? Dogs Anonymous?"
"I told you we should've stayed in the yard!"
"What is this place? Dogs Anonymous?"
"I told you we should've stayed in the yard!"
On Sunday night, my niece was on her way to my house. She called me and told me she had found two chihuhuas running in the highway. "What should I do with them?" she asked. Before I knew it, the words flew out of my mouth: "Bring them to me!"
This should not come as a surprise to anyone who has read my blog for more than 2.5 seconds. But, I was on a mission to get these puppies home. They looked as though they were well cared for, and I just knew that someone out there was missing them. We fed them and gave them a cozy place to sleep, and then I got in the internet. I posted ads on craigslist and our local paper, and got advice from my rescue group. We put up signs near where the dogs were found. I even asked for contacts for chihuahua rescues, just in case I couldn't find their owners. No more dogs for me!
They are so cute, though! The girl is white with black specks, and the boy is chocolate brown.Very well-behaved doggies, too.
Finally, late on Tuesday night, the call came in. "I'm so sorry to call this late, but I just saw your ad in the paper. Our two chihuahuas are missing and my son is heartbroken!" She described our houseguests to a "T". Her husband had accidentally left the gate open.
So, on Wednesday, the dogs were returned to their happy owners and their very relieved Little Boy.
And all was right with the world!

I'm so glad that those puppies got to home and that there are people like you who truly care that they do!
Oh, and the continuous look that is a cross between fear, confusion, and contempt are hilarious!
You're a good soul!
This is awesome! I'm so happy the dogs were returned to their owners. What a great story.
Oh yeah! Where are their collars? Thank you for doing that....coming from a dog owner whose husky will run the second she is given the opportunity (not because she doesn't love us, because she is a husky) there have been two occasions after hours of chasing we had to give up and had to rely on neighbor's kindness to look at her collar and call us. :)
Awwwh! I'm so glad you found their home, but I know you were sad to see them go! (:
Yay, what a great ending. We've had our dogs get out before and if it wasn't for neighbors like you keeping them safe for us until we were contacted, well the ending could have been very different. Have a great weekend!
I love your happy ending! I've also had it when the people were kind of ticked off that we were "harboring" their dogs instead of giving them a chance to run home on their own!
Thanks for playing again!
You are a dear! Truly, to quickly take in those dogs and quickly search for the owners. Some people would ignore a stray or keep the dog as a pet, without thought to the heartbreak of the owner. I'm so happy that they called and are back home and that they were found by you during their need!
Awe, the house guests were cute! Glad they found they found their way back home...I'm sure the little boy is forever grateful to you!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

YAY! I love happy endings! way to go.
A few weeks ago someone lost their dog in our neighborhood and I looked for him for hours. I didn't know the dog, but I thought he might approach Olivia....
You are a good egg!
Cute doggies! Glad you rescued them and found their owners.
I love the quote you have up top.
Aren't they the cutest things? I'm so glad they stuck together and were found together.
YAY for you on taking care of them and making sure they ultimately had a good place to go.
AWWWW....what a heart you have! They are adorable. I'm so glad the owners so the ad.
I want a chihuahua! Not really, but part of me does. I'm a big dog girl, but a little one to cuddle with wouldn't be so bad.
Awe. They are the cutest. And aren't you a good soul. Sweet.
How cute! So glad everything turned out well - bless you for taking them on!
What a sweet person to keep those doggies and find their owners!
What an awesome ending!!! You know, there is a special place in heaven for people like you . . .
You are doing soooo much good.
Hope you had a great time camping!
