And the Buses Roll Again........

...although my kids won't be riding them. Budget cuts have forced them to 'streamline'. The only stops are too far away for me to let even my 7th grader walk home alone.
They also cut in half our music and art programs. Instead of having both all year, they'll have music for half of the year and art the other half.
But yet, our pro sports players make millions.
This country's value system is way screwed up.

On to happier things! Today was the kids' first day of school. The Princess was nervous but happy. She's shy until she gets to know people. The Ladybug is going into 7th grade, and therefore is way too cool to act excited.
But she was. I wanted to take more pictures of her, but she told me I was a geek and that I was embarrassing her. Mission accomplished!

The Princess had her eyes closed, but the picture was cute so I'm sharing it anyway.

Now my house is quiet. They are having fun and learning.
Nice.

Your daughters are cute.

I think this is the first time since 1982 that I haven't had a child in school. I think I'm finally done.

Seems like schools are starting back early this year. Dontcha just love it? Cut out the Fine Arts but don't mess with those sports teams! Aaarrgghhh!

Sweet! We have one more week.

Too bad about the music & art & busing... Goes to show you where our priorities lie.

oh do i spy a littlest pet shop backpack? my daughter loves that stuff.

don't get me started on the art/music thing...it really pisses me off. another thing i've noticed (here where we live especially) is that there seems to be a lot of first year teachers getting jobs before more experienced ones. i have nothing against a first year teacher and i know everyone has to start somewhere, but im irritated that my son is 10 and has already had 3 first year teachers. i know of at least two older, more experienced teachers who don't have jobs, but yet there always seems to be a postition for someone just out of college. i have to wonder that this has less to do with what is best for the kids and more to do with who will work for less money.

(excuse my rant:)

Aw, they look so cute and I love your little one's backpack!

That's too bad about the cuts--a few years ago our school had a major cutback and we lost art, music and foriegn language for a year. Luckily it all came back. I hope that happens w your school too!!

That was my biggest fear as an art teacher :( So sad!

OH! I just HATE that! Our schools have cut a lot of the art programs, yet they keep pouring so much money into the sports programs! So frustrating!
It's not our country, it's the school districts! My town gets PLENTY of money from our taxes to pay for the programs, but they first give themselves nice hefty pay increases, then worry about the school budget! UGH!

I love the name of your blog lol! Thats such a positive take on the word because we are all quite disfunctional lol! I also love your blog template/colors..it's beeautiful!

Thats crazy about the schools! I homeschooled my son and he's 17 now..so I'm not up on whats going on with that. I only know that more then once since I've lived here in Hawaii..have our schools made it to like the 2nd worst schools in the nation! Pretty sad.

On a positive note..you've got beautiful children! Aloha!
