Focusing on the Positive Fragments

~ Work was exhausting this week, but I am looking forward to the weekend!
Tomorrow we're going to visit both sets of parents (and the baby Hayleigh will be there!!).
Saturday, we're going to Byron's family reunion.
And of course, Sunday we'll be celebrating Father's Day!

~ Today we went to my stepson Tyler's baseball game.  Shelbie's boyfriend Dusty came with us.  The team won, beating a team that was favored to win.  Afterward we all went to my MIL's house for a cookout.

~ You wanna know what puts a damper on all of that?  On the way home, we stopped at a store and Dusty got out and threw up his dinner. Then, on the way back to the truck, he took his hat off to wipe his forehead and I saw several bald patches.  Talk about reality slapping you in the face....
He had chemo this morning.  This was, I believe, the fourth time this week.  Right now he is doing chemo 4x a week.  It's called "Hell Month".  Then he enters a maintenance phase.  But during this period, his body has NO time to recover from chemo before it's time for another treatment.  It's so hard to see a strong, active teenager going through this.  He's seventeen.  This should be the time of his life, with no major worries, just enjoying the last of his carefree childhood time.  But cancer ended that.  And it sucks.

~ Anyway...focusing on the positive.  He had a good time and has a great attitude and good spirit about all of it.

Hope y'all have a good weekend and a wonderful Father's Day!

So sorry that Dusty is going thru all this. I'm sure it's not easy on anyone who loves him. Your daughter has a big heart.

I hope y'all have a great weekend!

I'm joining Friday Fragment for the first time today. I enjoyed reading yours!

Boy, cancer really sucks, doesn't it? Wishing Dusty the best with his fight :)

Bless Dusty's heart....praying the chemo gets easier or at least the side effects and that it's doing it's job. We have friend's with a 5 year old who has recently been on that same chemo schedule....for the third time.

Have fun at the reunion and on Father's Day.

OH man :( Chemo... so hard to understand how it is good for you when it's so amazingly hard on a body :(

It's nice to hear that Dusty is getting out of the house and trying to bring 'normal' back into his life. I'm sorry how much pain it is causing him though. My heart goes out to him.
xoxo
Have a good father's day!

Oh, Cyndy. My heart breaks for Dusty. And, for Shelbie. It can't be easy for her to watch him go through this. I'll be praying for him.

Cancer is a dick.
I love how he's living. Like fuck it. I'm carrying on.
I don't even know him and I'm rooting him on.
A busy weekend is always a good one right? If there is food involved, the better xox

So sad about Dusty, hope he beats it.

Oh how sad that poor young man. Cancer really does just suck. Focusing on the positive is the only way to deal with the lousy disease. I will pray for him.
My granddaughter's high school softball team just lost in the quarterfinals. They were expected to make it to the next round. It was her last game for high school she graduates this week.

Oh man. Life can really suck, ya know? And I give you so much credit for trying to focus on the positive, but sheesh. That can really be hard. Sending prayers Dusty's way.
