Open Wide Like an Alligator!

My baby girl, Elayna, had to have her first filling on Monday. (which made me a very sad Mommy. *sigh*)
She was soooo scared. She asked me a million questions, which I answered as honestly as possible. I have never had a cavity, so obviously I don't know what a filling is like firsthand, but I've had other dental work so I tried to tell her the truth without scaring her. But still, she was very nervous.
She'd been bribed with treats and encouraged to be a big girl if she could. We are fortunate to have an awesome dentist, who was very kind and gentle. But the best thing of all? The numbing gel that he put on her gums before giving her the Novocaine shot. She didn't even feel the shot! She was a very happy camper. The filling itself wasn't bad at all. She handled everything like a trooper, I was so proud of her! And I really hope this is the last cavity for a LONG time!

Awwww! That numbing stuff is the best. Any dentist who doesn't do it must be a complete sadist! Very nice Wordful Wednesday :)

They always gas The Dudes before any sort of dental procedure. I heart my dentist!

Bless her heart! The neat thing is that you have the pictures to share with her when she is an adult.

My oldest has had 2 fillings but she didnt have to get shots for either of them thankfully. However she has to get one of her teeth pulled but they are going to use laughing gas so she doesnt freak out

You have NO cavities? You ROCK! My daughter just had dental surgery in an OR at our children's hospital. Just too much work to be done. She has reflux which has damaged her teeth, poor baby. So they just knocked her out. It IS scary getting a cavity filled - I hate getting that done. Your daughter was brave!

So glad she had a decent experience. I remember hating the dentist so bad when I was little...that was before all the fancy new tricks they have now! :)

I shall use this post as an opportunity to brag about how I've never had a cavity.

What a brave girl!
I think it's funny that we both did our WW about our daughter's teeth. I think you might have the less painful side of our children's teeth issues though!

Okay, first of all, I am MUY impressed that you've never had a cavity. That is awesome!

I dread the Novacaine every time.

Glad to hear she did well!

ah the dental chair! I live there lately... some of us have good strong genetics... others not so much! I hope my children fall into daddy's genetics on this one! What a brave girl you have!! my kiddo would not let me have a camera... she'd be clingy and crying... ;)

Glad to hear the filling went okay. It's no fun sitting in the chair in the first place, never mind getting a procedure!

Even I have to have the numbing gel before I get a shot in the mouth but I can't stand having my mouth feel like it is 10 times bigger than it is.
