I am Officially a Soccer Mom.

I've been a Baseball Mom, a Tumbling Mom, a Volleyball Mom, and a Softball Mom.
But now, for the first time, I am officially a Soccer Mom.
I reckon this means I've moved up to the Big Leagues!

Today I signed Andrew up for soccer, and Elayna for volleyball.
I have no idea how I'm going to manage both of them playing sports at the same time, especially since John works in the evenings, when most games and practices are held.

But hey, I'm a Soccer Mom. I can do this!

This is a big deal for Andrew. He has anxiety, and has always been very reluctant to play sports. But on the advice of his physicians, we decided to make it a non-optional thing. He got to choose the sport, but he had to choose something. So, he chose soccer. We talked about it at the end of last school year, and now the season is finally starting. We've mentioned it a few times casually and he seemed okay with it.
So today when I actually signed him up, I wasn't sure how he would react.
He was SO happy! He couldn't wait to call his Nana and tell her, and he announced it as if he were saying he had just won the candy lottery!
"Nana, GUESS what Mama just did? She signed me up for SOCCER!!!"
I think this will be very good for him.

And Elayna had planned to play softball again this fall, but she has also been interested in volleyball ever since Shelbie played last year. So at the last minute (literally, I had started filling out the softball form), she changed her mind and decided to give volleyball a try. I think she'll enjoy it.

Me on the other hand....well, hey! It's fall, at least I can have Pumpkin Spice Lattes to keep me going!

my little girl who battles some anxiety herself... started soccer a few years ago... it took her a few seasons ... yep... seasons!... before she was um... not a timid player... less jumpy! but she really wanted to succeed and kept at it!! Now she is a good little player... one of the best on her team! I hope it is as good for Andrew as it has been for Abby!

Ah wow well done to Andrew and Elayna and to your new title. I dont know why but for some reason when reading this post Victoria Beckham popped into my mind as she is the ultimate soccor mum to her boys! as much as I love her I think youd be a fab 'yummy-mummy-soccer/volleyball-mum'.

Take care and good luck for their first games.

Now volleyball mom is one I'd love to be. Soccer mom...not too bad, except when that it's outdoors and your hair gets windblown.
Hockey mom...well, I heard them described like this: "Hockey moms are sharks with lipstick." That pretty much says it all!

Sounds like you will need those lattes to keep you going!

YAY for Sbucks pumpkin spice :)

and welcome to the soccer mom world! I've been a resident for 15 years now - wow! I had some really distasteful things to put here but I'll save them for another day - wouldn't want to scare you off before you got a true taste of the life ;0)

Sounds like you will be very busy but that's a good thing. How exciting for them. I hope they have fun. Sports are awesome for them to play. My great niece plays volleyball and loves it. Actually went to two different camps this summer in Florida. Enjoy your coffee.

That's great! I hope it works out well for him. Sports can be so good for a kid. Joey just started football this past week. So far he loves it. ;)

Oh that is so sweet, what Andrew said to his Nana! Awesome! Soccer Mom's Rule!

I was one for many years with Kylie and then one time with Serena, so I am looking forward to doing it all over with Brandon!

I had the opportunity to try the Pumpkin Spice Latte's you talk about, they are YUM! :)

Yeah for sports. I am a soccer mom too and I love it. I used to coach varsity volleyball and I love that sport too. I can't wait for my girls to start playing volleyball.

I always loved volleyball, but that's because I'm not a runner! I can jump and hit, but running really isn't my thing lol

Enjoy!

What a great step for Andrew! I hope that he really enjoys it. Good luck with the new schedules... although you are a mom & we have superpowers so I'm sure you will be golden, espeically with Pumpkin Spice running through your veins. :)

Welcome to the club...us soccer mom's are pretty cool ;0)

My middle one was always the one who veered away from group sports. When he asked to give baseball a try last year I was so suprised that I ran right out and signed him up. He LOVES it. When he knows he has a game he is dressed and ready to go a good hour before he needs to be.
