Random Rambling Friday Fragments

TGIF! It's time for Friday Fragments.

~*~ Starting on a sad note: A few days ago I was notified of a new follower on Twitter named Amy. I followed her back. Just a couple of days after that, I saw some tweets from a mutual friend about Amy's nephew. They said that he had been taken to the hospital by ambulance because he wasn't breathing. Then I saw this blog post. Amy's sweet nephew, Jackson, passed away. Please keep this family in your prayers.

~*~ On a brighter note: Both of my girls had their first games last night. Softball for Elayna, volleyball for Shelbie. They both did great. I LOVE Shelbie's coach & team. They are all about building each other up. They're very encouraging and supportive. It's a great experience for her. Elayna is really enjoying herself as well.
I tried to take a cell phone pic of Shelbie but mostly got nothing but a blur. This is the clearest blur I managed!

And here's Layna posing at home when she first got her uniform.

~*~ We are cat-sitting this pretty girl for a friend of mine. She is SO sweet and pretty. John told me to tell my friend that her cat ran away so we can keep her! He's such a dork. But how lucky am I, an animal lover, to be married to another animal lover? It works out well.

~*~ I talk to John about my blog & blog friends all the time. I told him all about my misheard lyrics post. So the other day he said to me "Did you tell your friends about how you misheard "Under the Living Room"? I love the way he worded it; not "did you blog about.." but "did you tell your friends about..." because that's truly what it is. That's what I do here, talk to my friends.

~*~ Did you see NieNie on Oprah? I missed the show but went to Oprah.com and watched the clip. How totally inspiring and incredible! If you missed it, I hope you'll watch the Oprah clip. You'll be glad you did.

~*~ Listening to my Tom Petty radio station on Pandora makes my nights at work awesome. Same goes for my Eagles station. Love.them.

~*~ Speaking of work: Last night I came in at 11pm, and all hell proceeded to break loose shortly thereafter. We are very shorthanded; we have no stat nurses (extra nurses who aren't assigned patients, they help the other nurses) and only 2 clerks. We usually have 2 stat nurses and at least 3 clerks. A patient started losing a lot of blood, so I had to order blood products and run to the blood bank to get them. Then we got a new patient in while all of that was going on, and that patient had to go down for a CT scan. Meanwhile the other 28 patients needed things too (we're a 30-bed unit). I was running all over the place! I work in an ICU, which is very different then doing the same job on a regular floor. My role & responsbilities are far different. It can be stressful, but it also makes me feel like a more important part of the team that saves lives. We are constantly reminded of how vital we are as clerks on this unit. And tonight not only was I thanked profusely by the nurses, but I actually had one come up to me and say "Cyndy, you are doing a fantastic job tonight." Who wouldn't like that?!

~*~ Thanks to Mrs 4444 for hosting Friday Fragments every Friday! Go visit her for more Fragments of Fun.
Have a great weekend!

I'm sorry to hear the sad news about Amy's nephew =(

I love that John calls your blog people your friends. I agree completely... blogging really does create friendships!

So sad to hear about Amy's nephew...

That cat is ADORABLE! Yeah, I'd be wanting to keep that one around, too! ;)

Too funny your hubby refers to your bloggy friends simply as 'your friends' - it is true, though, isn't it, how cool friendships are formed in the blogosphere? :)

Happy FF! :)

You're so blessed to have such a rewarding job-It's a win-win, isn't it?

Thanks so much for the link to the Oprah site! I'll pass that on.

So, so sad about Amy's nephew. I had her on my prayer list before, but I'll have to step it up again, sadly.

I'm sorry about your friend's nephew. That's a horrible thing to go through. Who is Nie Nie?

I'm so glad that your efforts at work are appreciated.

BTW, I feel the same way about blogging. It's more like I'm sharing with friends.

I love Tom Petty. I hate seeing blogging friends sad or in bad health. We are cat sitting as well this weekend. I really should do Friday Fragments as well!

Sending prayers for your friend's family.

Enjoyed your updates and pictures. Greg is like that too, "Did you tell your blog friends"... well, he will say "blog" friends.
