The Golden Years

Tuesday is my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary.

We celebrated today, a small, family gathering.

My mom is 68 years old, my dad is 75.
I think they look great!

The framed photo below on the left was taken
on the day they got married, 50 years ago.

Happy Anniversary to Nanny & Papa Dysfunctional! ;-)

Linking up with Unknown Mami for Sundays in my City.

{virtual} coffee

<Photobucket

I've been seeing these {virtual} coffee posts up recently, and I wanted to join in, but I never remembered until it was too late. Because that's how I roll. But finally, as I was sitting here with writer's block, I remembered in time to join in. So I visited the blog that hosts {virtual} coffee, and fell in love. Go check out Lucky Number 13 - I bet you fall in love too.

First of all, if we were having coffee, we'd probably be at Starbucks. Because I don't make coffee at home. Second, it would probably be in the afternoon. Because I am not an early riser. I would be drinking something with lots of sugar and caramel and vanilla and yumminess. I don't really want my coffee to taste like coffee! Once we got our coffee, we could get down to chit-chat.

Tonight after the kids' soccer practice, I'm going to our Ladies' Bible Study for my church. I usually don't go; weeknights can be so hectic. But I need this; I think it will be good for me.

Did you realize that Mother's Day is THIS weekend? Because I did not. It works out well though, because the kids will be home this weekend.

I can't believe we've only been in our new home for a little over a month. It feels like forever! We really like it here. My garden is coming along nicely. We're starting to see pears popping out on the pear tree. Do you have any good pear recipes?

We have so much going on in our lives. Besides the stressful stuff....let's not even go there! My son is graduating in June. My niece is getting married later that month. And in September, my parents will celebrate their 50th anniversary! We're already throwing around ideas about that celebration. We want to surprise them.

What are your summer plans? We're hoping to spend some time at the beach & springs, camping and swimming. Maybe we'll be able to hit up an amusement park, too.

Well, all this hot coffee has made me thirsty. I need a Diet Dr Pepper!

See you next week!

Sunday in My City

Unknown Mami

This actually covers the whole weekend in my City!

It all started on Saturday, with a soccer game for The Littles, Andrew & Elayna.

They won 8-0! The team is doing great this season.

After the soccer game, we took the kids to a pizza buffet for lunch & did some shopping.

It was our 6th Anniversary.
For the first time ever, we left all of the kids at home alone and went out, just the two of us! We went to dinner & a movie. We had some time to kill in between, so we hung out at the mall & hit the photobooth.

We saw Insidious, and OMG it was so scary! Very good movie.
The kids did great while we were gone, the house was still standing and everything!
Today we went to church & then to our town's Spring Festival.
Elayna got her face painted like a cat!

Andrew ate a smurf.
Kidding, he ate a blue raspberry slushee.

My niece was with us, so I got a rare shot of the whole fam-damily.

We had a good time, I love living in a small town because you see everyone you know at these little festivals. I also bought a jasmine plant, mmmm I love that stuff!

Elayna and I have matching shirts, so we had our picture taken by this jasmine plant.

And now we are home, out of the heat - it was in the 90's today!

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Awards, Festivals, & Chupacabras - Oh My!

Mommy's Idea

I can't believe it's Friday already, this week flew by!

We live out in the woods now, and so far we have seen wild turkeys, rabbits, a deer....and a mysterious unknown animal. We're pretty sure it's a chupacabra.

We have a fun weekend planned. The littles have a soccer game tomorrow, then we're planning on taking the kids to lunch at a new pizza buffet place.
Saturday night, John and I are going out for our anniversary.
On Sunday after church, we're going to our town's Spring Festival. I love weekends like this! Simple, but fun.

I got a blog award this week! I love me some Katertot. Here's the award:

And I have to list 7 Facts about myself.
Hmmm....here goes.

1. I love to vacuum. It's a sickness, I know.
2. I eat way too many Whopper's Robin Eggs at this time of year.
3. My 18 year old son is drawing and coloring a bunny rabbit right now. Don't ask me why.
4. My anniversary with hubby is on Saturday! 6 years.
5. My toenails are almost always painted purple. It's my favorite color, and that way I'm always wearing purple. It makes me smile.
6. It's taking me almost an hour to come up with these seven things.
7. I love camping. We haven't camped in forever and I am SO ready to go again!

The song of the week is from my girl T-Swizzle! The girls & I have been jamming to this one all week. Enjoy!

Fragging Time

Mommy's Idea

For once I'm actually not ecstatic to see Friday come around! Not because of Friday Fragments, of course - I always look forward to those! - but because it means Spring Break is over. We've had a really great week! I'm going to post all about our vacation later, but right now.....it's time to Frag!

*Sorry I'm late on my fragments...I just woke up! *ah* I love vacation.

* Today is our anniversary! Five fabulous years. We're going to have a nice dinner out tonight.

* The rest of the weekend will be spent packing & moving.....we found a totally amazing house just a couple of miles down the road and snatched it up. The kids are SO excited! It's on 6.5 acres, has 4 bedrooms (one more than we have now), so many other amazing features. The one the kids are most excited about? An inground POOL!

* Have I mentioned I hate moving? I truly hope this is our last move for many years. We haven't had good luck with houses but I'm pretty sure our luck has changed this time!

* My husband is an obsessive packer. He had a ton of stuff already packed early this week. I hate living out of boxes! I think he'd have me packed in a box if I'd let him.

* I slept so well on vacation....because there were no dogs crowding the bed! I was actually able to move around and get comfortable. And yet....I couldn't wait to get home to my puppies!

* The kids haven't stayed in hotels much....Elayna was delighted to see the little hair dryer in the bathroom! It's the little things....

Alright, I think that's about it. It's time to start celebrating our anniversary! Hope you all have a wonderful Spring weekend
and are enjoying some wonderful Spring weather!

Anniversary

You make me laugh when I want to cry.

You make me smile when I want to scream.

You take care of me. You worry about me. You keep me safe.

You are my rock, my everything, my hero.

You are the love of my life.

Happy 4th Anniversary to my wonderful husband!
