Sad

I just learned that a girl I've known since Kindergarten passed away today after a 19 month battle with breast cancer. She left behind very young children and a loving family. She lived in my neighborhood and I grew up with her, although I hadn't seen her in many years. (we reconnected through Facebook)
Cancer is a thief. It steals wives, mommies, daughters, daughters-in-law, friends....
I saw this quote on her Facebook page right after I heard the news:

"Life is short! Say what's on your mind, now!"
Here's what's on my mind.

I'm so sorry about your friend. October is breast cancer awareness month, it is so sad when we lose someone - even to an evil culprit like this.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hate cancer, I feel blessed and lucky to be a survivor...I go back for more surgery in January and I hope in time, with awareness, we can find a cure, and until then, that we comfort and care for those suffering from it, and from the loss of it!

It's so nice that you were able to reconnect through Facebook and so sad to lose her again so soon.

God I hate Cancer. Any kind of cancer, but especially Breast Cancer. A friend of mine died of Breast Cancer. A man. Most people lose sight of the fact that men get breast cancer, too. And when we do, it's more often fatal because we find it later than women usually do.

Please. Man or woman. Do self exams. If you're a man, ask your wife, girlfriend, mother or doctor how to do them and do them properly. But DO THEM.

I am sor sorry for your loss.

I have known so many people who have had breast cancer...it is horrible. My own grandma passed away when I was 6 from it and she was just 53. My paternal grandma is going through chemo for it right now. I will be doing all kinds of stuff next month for breast cancer awareness month because I feel it is so important!
