I try to spend time with my parents. They are aging (for lack of a better term, we're all aging). My mom is 66 and my dad is 73. But what I seem to forget when I plan these get-togethers is that they drive.me.batty. They are both retired now. They are total homebodies who never go anywhere or do anything. They sit around the house and get on each others' last nerve! They cause me stress and anxiety when I'm with them.
I don't want to look back after they're gone and wish I'd visited more. But man, they make me wanna tear my hair out!
Time for a nice glass of wine...or perhaps a bottle.....

That's exactly how I feel with my Mom. When she came for my girls graduation I thought I would pull my hair out after 5 min.
But you never know how much time you have with them.
I'm so sorry and I completely empathize.
*passes personal bottle*
Might I suggest a bottle of Mad Housewife Chardonnay to take the edge off? Decent for $10 & has a fun lable!
I think we all understand -- especially when WE are the aging parents! :-)
Try to appreciate the time with them. Know that they might drive you a little batter and that's OK. Life is precious. Don't leave room for regret..
I'm dreading that time period. My mom already makes me miserable enough. :\
Hope you enjoy that bottle, errr, that glass ;)
I'm so glad someone else feels this way about their mom/dad.
It does make me feel guilty when I feel that way though
feel for you...but what if we turn into that???
Oy. I'm so sorry, and can certainly sympathize. My mom will be here next month...for 3 WEEKS!
Perhaps we can split a bottle...or 2.
You know you have my sympathy with this one! I dread the phone calls, let alone the visits.
I can totally empathize with you. My mom drives me completely crazy yet I feel guilty when I don't visit with her.
I am only laughing at this because I can totally relate!
Ha.. I am so with you on this one.. I adore and love my mom to pieces but some days.. sigh.. some days are just too much. :)
Remember your motto, "Just smile and nod".
Sometimes it's the best way.
I can relate. But now both of mine are gone and I sure miss them.
I was listening to a lady complain about her aging mother today and was it ever funny. By the end of the two hours though, I wanted to go and take a round out of her myself!! I let her know that most times we turn into our mothers, so to prepare HER kids!! lol
They're still youngish; better buy stock in a vineyard!
I hear ya on the parents. Mine will drive you crazy too.
This is Joyce. LMAO!!! Right there with you.
