SIMC - Poses, Pictures, Pets and Popcorn

This weekend has been rainy, but we've made the best of it.

Friday night we celebrated my hubby's birthday.
I forced people to pose for photos.  It was great!

My Elayna, getting so grown-up.

Me, clowning around.

Just us girls

Me & Elayna

Me & Shelbie

Tim, my little boy who is all grown up.

Shelbie, Elayna, me, Tim, and Tyler behind us.

On Saturday, my son Tim got a new pet.
It's going to live here at my house temporarily.
It's a chinchilla.  Super cute!!

Wiz

Saturday night, the girls and I had movie night.  We all piled up in my bed and watched "Oz the Great and Powerful".  We had our favorite movie snack - popcorn with peanut M&M's (festive 4th of July edition!).  The girls did my hair, and even painted my toes!  And the movie was really good.

~~YUM~~

I'm hoping for a little sun today.....
I need my vitamin D!

Pop Culture - Old School Blogging

I am loving the Old School Blogging memes.
Fun stuff for this Old School Mama!
Here's this month's edition...

1.  What was one of your favorite shows as a kid?  Why?

I would have to say Growing Pains, because Kirk Cameron, that's why.  I loooooved him.

2. Which actress(es) do you see on the red carpet and kinda wish you could be for a day (or three)?

I don't watch awards shows.  I compare them to watching paint dry; they just don't interest me at all.  But I have a total girl crush on Sofia Vergara, and if I couldn't be her, I would have to choose Catherine Zeta-Jones.  Brunettes rock!!

drop dead gorgeous.

beautiful.

3.  Which actor do you wish you could, um... hang out with? ;)

Bradley Cooper.  It's rare that I like the same celebrity that everyone else likes (I am not at all impressed with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, nor 90% of the other men y'all ladies swoon over) but I love me some Coop.  Oh and I just saw that Hangover 3 will be out soon!  I cannot wait!

4. What is one (or two or some) of your favorite movies that you have seen in the last few years?

Well, the Hangover movies, obviously.  I love love love Straw Dogs.  I also loved the Paranormal Activity movies.  (can you tell I don't see movies a lot?)

The last movie I saw was on my first date with Byron.  I just asked him and neither of us can remember what movie it was!  hahaha

5. Who is one celebrity out there now that you could totally do without? That you wish would just disappear?

Other than the obvious, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan?  I'd have to say Ryan Lochte.  Dumb as a box of rocks, he is pretty much an embarrassment to humanity, and more importantly, to the University of Florida. (he is a former Gator.  Sad, but true.)  And I just could not care less what he would 'do'.  I think his best bet is to keep quiet and swim.

6. Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who? What did you say/do when you met them?

I have.  I met Tim Tebow when he was still in training for the Florida Gators (where he played college football).  My then-husband John is a huge Gator fan and recognized him, even though he'd never played a game with the Gators.  He was with three other Gator players.  I went up and started talking to them (the ex was too chicken).  I chatted with Tebow for a while and then got his autograph, and he took pictures with my ex and two of my kids.  We had no idea how famous he would eventually become.  One of these days I need to scan those pictures.
I have nothing but respect for Tim Tebow; he is an amazing person.  Not to mention SMOKING HOT.

Also, once the season started I went to a game and when he was running into the tunnel, he high-fived me.  I haven't washed that hand YET.

I also met Joakim Noah, Al Horford, and some other former UF Basketball player whose name I don't recall. Maybe Taurean Green?  They  are all now pro players.  Horford's mother lived in the same apartment complex I used to live in, and I saw them one day while walking my dog.  Noah was petting my dog and I asked him if I could run home and get something for them to autograph.  I grabbed one of the ex's hats and ran back. They invited me in and they all signed it for me.  I knew right away it was Noah because not only is he literally almost 7 foot tall, he looks like this:

He's hard to miss.

7.  Which shows do you look forward to watching every week?

I rarely get to watch shows when they come on because I work nights.  But I love Duck Dynasty and I am addicted to most TLC shows.  I especially love My Crazy Obsession!  And I watch Welcome to Myrtle Manor, too.  I have never made a secret of my love for craptastic reality TV!  I can't wait for Honey Boo Boo to return.

Her mom reminds me of someone I know.
I can't quite put a finger on who though....

It's Friday and I am Totally Fragged!

I have lots of fragments for you today!

This whole "job" thing is totally interfering with my sleep! Zzzz.....
I'm exhausted!

Elayna said something hilarious last night. We were watching Family Feud, which is not always exactly "family-friendly". They asked, "What is something you do to get your spouse in the mood?" and one of the contestants yelled "Liquor!" Then it appeared on the board: LIQUOR and Elayna said "Ooohhh, I thought he said LICK HER."
....and I died.

Elayna and I had some one on one time Thursday night. We went to dinner and a movie. We saw Winnie the Pooh, and other than the time when I blinked for about 20 minutes....it was very cute. We had a good time.

My son Tim is now officially enrolled in college. He will start in the fall. He also had an interview on Thursday for a job that will be in his planned career field and will help him towards his goals. I'm so excited for him, and proud of him.

Do your kids (or you) watch Good Luck Charlie? The little girl who plays Charlie may just be the cutest child I've ever seen in my entire life.

When I was about 7 or 8 years old, I had a very good friend who moved to Arizona. We were really close, I have wonderful memories of spending time with her family, and I was so sad when they moved away. We wrote letters for a little while, and our parents exchanged Christmas cards for years.
Last night, I found her on Facebook. I.LOVE.FACEBOOK.

There will be big changes at my youngest kids' school next year. Their principal is retiring after 20 years. It was a sudden decision. I've heard very good things about his replacement though. Also, many of the teachers are switching grades, including the teacher that Elayna SO badly wanted next year. But I'm not worried, it's a great school and I know the kids will be Okay. We ran into Elayna's 4th grade teacher today and she had such great things to say about Elayna. I just soaked it all up! Love it!

Alright, if you have a teenage or preteen daughter and haven't heard this song yet....you just have to hear this!

And as always, don't forget to check out

And have a fantastic weekend.

My Happy List

Photobucket

With the stressful stuff going on at Dysfunction Junction, I was really hoping for a weekend full of happy. And this weekend totally delivered!

1. After an insanely stressful day on Friday, I made it just in time to go to Girls' Night Out with the ladies from church. We had a great time; we had dinner and then saw Soul Surfer, which is a great movie; so much more than I expected! I enjoyed myself so much. I never do anything like that, I'm always at home with the kids, and I really needed it!

2. My teenage daughter Shelbie went out of town with her best friend, who is my best friend's daughter, this weekend. Shelbie's BFF is in Baton Competitions, and Shelbie went along with her. I am so glad her dad let her go; it's his weekend and since he only sees her every other weekend I wasn't sure if he'd want her to miss a whole weekend with him, understandably. She has been texting me all weekend and is having a blast! I love that these girls are so close; they remind me so much of me & my BFF! They are definitely their mothers' daughters.

3. This morning my Littles had a soccer game. Their team didn't win, but they played hard and I always enjoy their games, win or lose.

4. Afterwards, we went to my BFF's (same one mentioned above) son's birthday party. The Littles came with us. I got to hang out with my BFF and the kids played and had a great time.

5. It was a beautiful day and when we got home, we spent some time outside, doing some stuff in the yard and just soaking up the son. My two unhealthy addictions are Diet Dr Pepper and the sun! Ok, and chocolate. So that's three, but who's counting?

6. Yes, there's still more! Tonight John and I went to the burger place where my son works for dinner. We got there just before his break time, so he sat and had dinner with us! I love any extra time I can grab with my kids, especially the 18 year old.

7. One more - went to Winn Dixie for a few things; I had coupons and a sale list. I spent $30 and saved $20; not bad for a quick trip!

And now I'm sitting with the hubsicle, laughing at Parking Wars and just enjoying our night.
If only WEEKDAYS could be as wonderful as WEEKENDS!

Weekend Wrap Up 11.16.09

It's that time again....time to wrap up my weekend.
It was a busy but mostly uneventful weekend.
Saturday morning Elayna had a softball double-header. They won both games and had a blast.
Saturday afternoon, we watched the Gators play a messy, ugly game, but they won, and that's all that matters to me.
We went to the library and then John and I fed the kids dinner early. Then we all watched Herbie Goes Bananas. After the movie, we put the kids to bed, lit candles and had a nice romantic dinner to ourselves. It was nice and we decided we should do that more often! It had been forever since we'd done that.
Sunday was a lovely, cloudless day filled with church, shopping, outside play, laundry, bathing dogs, kids visiting friends, kids' sports practices, and then more church. Instead of a church service on Sunday nights, we have 'grow groups', which are small groups that meet in the home of a couple who attend the church. We really enjoy that small group time. The little kids have their own group, and the bigger kids go to Youth Group. We're gearing up for our Fall Festival also, which is next Sunday.

So, yeah. Nothing but excitement going on around here! I love weekends like this though....laid back, easy going, family time.
Of course that laid-back feeling will end soon, since the busy week is starting. Wheeee!

I've decided to add a fun Question of the Day to my Weekend WrapUp posts. Today's question is:

If you could only drink one beverage for the rest of your life (not including water), which one would you choose?
I tend to get addicted obsessed with a specific drink and stick with it. For years it was Diet Pepsi. A few months ago, I was obsessed with sweet tea. But now, I have a new one.
It's Diet Dr Pepper.

LOVE it and would happily drink it for the rest of my life (or until the next obsession comes along!).

Hannah Mon-freaking-tana

Both of my girls love them some Hannah Montana.
I've never actually watched a full episode of the show, but I know the concept. I know that Miley Cyrus plays the part, and she's a regular kid with a secret identity as a rock star, and all that jazz. I've always thought she was cute, and a far better role model than slutBritney Spears or penisParis Hilton.
So, I get all that. I really do.
There was no way I was becoming a psycho crazy mother and fighting for tickets to one of her shows. But when I saw that they'd made a movie of a concert, I thought, great! The girls will love that.
Today was a holiday, perfect for a nice Mommy/daughter day at the movies.
Off we went! We paid a whopping $15 per person for this movie, which lasted approximately 80 minutes. Alright, the girls will really love this, so I'm ok with that.
My friends.....it was hell. Pure, torturous hell. This girl who I thought was cute, is utterly full of herself and completely ANNOYING. And better yet, I got to watch it all in 3D. Now, I love 3D effects so I thought at least that would be entertaining.
Yeah, no.
And the Jonas Brothers? Seriously, who dresses those kids? The main singer dude had on tight girl jeans, a purple button-down shirt, and a gold LAME jacket. That's lame with the accent over the E that I don't know how to do. Although it was just plain LAME as well.
I'm (gulp) glad we went. The girls enjoyed it, and that truly is what matters. But I'd rather have fiery hot pokers stabbed into my eyes and ears, than sit through that again.
I want major Mommy Brownie points for this!
