Friday Fragments - Friend Edition

Well, it's {almost} Friday and you know what time it is....Half Past Kissin' Time!
And that means time for Friday Fragments.

Mommy's Idea

I'm home. I had a wonderful week and I am incredibly relaxed. The animals are so happy to see me, one cat in particular has not left my side. Right now she's sitting on the top of the sofa behind my head, purring constantly.
The hubby was pretty happy to see me, too. I think he may have been purring a little himself.

One thing I admire about my friend Danielle, who I've been with this past week, is her ability to forgive and love people despite their shortcomings. Even when people in her family have treated her very badly, she is able to overlook that and still have a very strong, deep love for those people. She was raised by several different relatives, passed around basically, and some of them treated her very poorly. But she is able to put all of that in the past and love them for their good qualities. I just love that about her. She is the rock of her entire family, always taking care of everyone.

One thing Danielle does NOT do, however, is cook. In fact, I used her new oven before she did. She bought the food, I cooked, her teenage daughter did dishes. It was quite a wonderful set-up, I think we should all move in together!

I also love Danielle's family, as they are like a second family to me. They have taken me in and treat me as one of their own. Her sister and I are also becoming very close. They are a huge, warm, loving, CRAZY family, and I feel lucky to be a part of the group.

So. Tell me about your closest friend. Tell me what you love about him or her, what you admire, what you appreciate. I don't know where I'd be without my friends!

wow is that a young Stevie Wonder?
That's a great song.
Very nice that you have a great friendship. Did you travel to see her?

I don't cook either, don't even have a stove because it's totally unnecessary!

Now that I'm married, my hubby is my best friend. Don't really have any other best friend right now, sad to say.

Oh I'm so glad you had a good visit. My closest friend lives in The Great White North, so I don't get to see her very often, but there is something to be said for that life-long (since Kindergarten for us) friend with whom you can pick up right where you left off. Which reminds me, I haven't chatted with her lately... will have to call while the kids and I are in the car today!

I have a friend that I've known since High School! I simply don't know what I would do without her. But I do know I'd most likely be in a straight jacket!

You always have the best music! I have to second the husband as my best friend. I have only 4 other very close girlfriends and 3 are my daughters. I could use a few more:)
I love to cook but have not had time lately..I really miss it.

I'm so happy you had a great week.

As far as my closest friends, I'd have to say first my sisters. Then my friend Margie, who is a beautiful, science nerdy, actress, that plays the ukelele and sings. I never have to worry about girl drama with her, I can trust her with my life. And then there's my friend Christina, a cute, intelligent poetess. Witty and funny one of the most encouraging people I know.

Thanks for helping me focus on how awesome my friends are. I'm glad you were able to get renewed in your friendship as well.

It has occurred to me lately that I am living my life (mostly) without friends. I have my family (whom I consider friends), my co-workers, a few random acquaintances, and this wonderful online community that I have embraced. But I have no real life, in the flesh, girlfriends. And lately ... I have felt that lack. Just not sure what to do about it!

I don't think it's sad that Karen doesn't have any other best friends beyond her husband. They are so happy together! I do think it's sad that she doesn't have a stove, hahaha!

As for me, I have a number of dear friends, and each one meets a different need for me; feeding me, talking on the phone, sharing work stories, etc. Now I just need a workout buddy.

Glad you had fun, were missed, and made it home safely :)

So glad you had a great time! How funny that you used her new oven before she did!!!

I have a few good friends that I met through a mom's play group and they are my "go to" friends any time I need support!

It takes BEING a good friend to HAVE good friends. I haven't mastered the art of being a reliable friend. I focus everything I've got on my kids and husband. I do have friends and people that I love but I feel like I don't give well to them. I admire that you value and nurture friendship.

Great song. It's been a long time since I've been close to any of my friends. Moving changed things for me over the years. I miss my friends deeply. So glad you had a wonderful time.
