End-of-Summer Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday is here - time for fraggin'!!

~ Today the little kids meet their new teachers. (Shelbie is in high school; she got her schedule in the mail.) Elayna is SO excited! Andrew is at his Grandma's, and not a big fan of school, so I doubt he is quite as thrilled. LOL

~ School starts Monday. I can't quite believe it. I'm not ready for the early mornings and early bedtimes; we have kept a very different, night-owl schedule all summer and I'm much more suited for that.

~ I have a pretty fun weekend ahead. Tonight I'm going out for karaoke with my BFF Danielle, and on Saturday they are having a huge birthday party for her grandmother, and John and I will be attending. And bringing my world-famous potato salad.

~ They are already selling candy corn and those yummy pumpkins at Walgreens. I love them, and I love fall, but wow....already??

~ I have decided to start a new meme/carnival/whateveryouwanttocallitthingy.

I'm going to call it "DysFUNctional MOMents", and I'm going to share the Dysfunctional Mom Moments that I've had during the past week, and invite y'all to join in! What do you think? I'm going to give it a test run on Tuesday, so if you already have a Dysfunctional MOMent to share (and you know you do!), get it ready! You can post it on your blog and link up, and I'll also have guest bloggers here sharing their DysFUNctional MOMents.
Like that time your daughter was crying that her thumb hurt but you thought she was just being a drama queen and then you took her to the ER the next day and it was actually broken.
Oh wait, that was me.
Okay, like that time you took your son's lizard outside so it could get some sun but you forgot about it all day and it sort of.....baked. To death.
Oh wait, that was me, too.
Okay, enough of my your DysFUNctional MOMents, let's save the rest for Tuesday!

I'm sure you have all heard about the tragedy that happened at the Sugarland Concert at the Indiana State Fair last week. I'm a huge Sugarland fan and wanted to share one of their songs today. It's hard to choose just one; I love almost every song they've ever recorded, but this is one of my favorites. My prayers are with all of those affected by the tragedy.

The Sugarland thing is sooooo sad. Great song though.

I love the idea of your new Meme :)

I have never tried Karaoke...let's face it I cannot sing...but I want to. So bad. I'd have to be a little more than tipsy to do so though! Okay...a lot more than tipsy...

Good luck to all the kiddos in school this year. Shelbie in high school... when did that happen?

Your meme sounds fun, I can't wait to check out the posts.

I can't believe summer is already over.

When you go to karaoke do you stick to the same songs or do you venture out? What songs do you sing?

YAY!! Candy corn and pumpkins. I love those things.

Thanks for sharing The Sugarland song. So sad for those people and their families.

I was so sad to hear about the Sugarland concert tragedy. So sad. And to think, they were just there to listen to some good music and have a good time. :( Good luck with back to school bedtimes. I'm still trying to adjust myself. Have a great weekend.

I can't believe it's fall already... the leaves are changing, it's almost time to take my stepdaughter home to her mom... :(

Yeah. I can't believe school is gonna start soon. I'm not ready. I love summer. I'm definitely not ready to let go of our carefree summer days. :(

My kids are all grown and gone, but when I lapse into a dysfunctional moment, my hubby says, "I've got a room reserved for you!" (meaning at "the home")

I've been ready for fall since about June 21. It is amazing that they've had out Halloween stuff at the Dollar Store for several weeks already. ... I am also a huge night owl. ... And hello? How in the world was karaoke?! I want all the embarrassing details. :) ... I'm blogging again now after being on hiatus. Mostly at iamthat-shawna.blogspot.com ... and also writing some poetry at safehousepoetry.wordpress.com, in case you're interested.

I feel so sad for Sugarland and those poor families that lost loved ones. What a freaky tragedy. I will never take my daughters frantic weather reports for granted again.
I am sad for school to start. It means my kids are super busy and my grandkids are also too busy.
I may have to offer to do homework hours or something...

I just saw what happened on the news at that concert...someone actually took a video of the stage crashing. It's horrible and so sad.

Love the idea you have for a meme...you know I have plenty of those moments!
