Melting My Mommy Heart

Okay, who unplugged Blogger yesterday?! That was insane!!

I couldn't even Frag. What the heck?!

So, this has to be rushed since Blogger was down all day yesterday. (gives Blogger the death look)

I was going to have a Girls' Night Out tonight with my BFFs from high school, but one of them is sick so we have to postpone. Bummer!

BUT! It will still be a great night. You see.....

Tonight is my oldest son Tim's Senior Prom. His tux is rented, his girlfriend's dress is purchased. He is going with his girlfriend, his friend Zack, and Zack's date. Last Thursday we were talking about where they were going to go for their pre-Prom dinner. I made a few suggestions of some of the nice restaurants in town.

And then, earlier this week, I got a text message from Tim. He asked me if I would cook chicken & dumplings for all of them on Friday night, and said that's what they all want to do for their pre-Prom dinner.

And I melted.

As y'all may know, especially if you read my Southern Loving Food Blog, I love to cook. And for me, it's more than just preparing a meal. Food is a way of taking care of my family, showing love, celebration........it's love on a plate. And the fact that they came up with this idea on their own, chose to do this for a special occasion, and are all looking forward to it so much (they have all told me that, separately, except for Zack's date, whom I don't know)......I am one proud mama. In fact, I'm kind of weepy about the whole thing, hopefully I won't embarass myself!

Oh - and both boys have not only offered but INSISTED on paying me.

So, I would not miss this chance for the world. Who could resist this face?

{Tim, 1995}

He's 18 years old. He graduates from high school next month. (I'm going to be a freaking WRECK.)

He's my firstborn and he's grown up in the blink of an eye. In my heart, he'll always be my baby boy. So it may not sound like a huge deal, but it means so much to me. And I can't wait!

Tomorrow my littles have their last soccer game, then the Tournaments will be the following weekend.

And Saturday afternoon is my niece's wedding shower! YAY!

Hope y'all have a great weekend! Visit Mrs 4444's for more Friday Fragments.

Not only did someone unplug blogger but blogs were lost!! I have one floating out there somewhere in never never land and it saddens me.

Your big guy is so cute in his 1995 photo!

Congrats on being selected on the pre-prom dinner choice!

Blogger and I are NOT friends today! I just discovered that my post from yesterday is missing! I have no clue what happened! Sure hope things get back to normal soon! Aww...I love how your son and his friends asked you to cook dinner for them. Trust me, this is the first of many weepy moments you'll have in the next few months. If he heads off to college, you might want to buy some bulk Kleenex from Sam's...you're gonna need it!

Gaah-I did not realize how much I depended on the good feeling I get from blogging until it was gone. Please don't do that again Blogger or I think there will be a mass exodus from your ranks.
He's so cute there--hope he has fun at prom.

So much going on. You are just awesome and how great that they want you to cook. I love it. I think I had a light bulb moment over here today. I have been so down, not wanting to anything for anyone and not taking care of my family. I need to start showing them that love again.

Awww... that was so sweet that Tim and his friends wanted to dine at Chaz Cyndy. Says a lot about your cooking skills.

What sweet fragments you have this week.

Mr.4444 has made dinner for a couple of homecomings. You rate well if you get to cook for PROM! :)

It's bittersweet; that growing up stuff. Kyle turns 19 on Sunday!

Finally got my Fragments posted tonight--whew! Can't believe Blogger was down for so long!

That is so nice they asked you to cook for them instead of going to a restaurant (since you like to cook). What a nice way to include you in on their fun celebration!

Awww. How sweet of your boy to have you cook dinner for him and all his friends! I only wish I am that close to all my kids when they get older. Good luck at Graduation! I'm freaking out about my two oldest starting pre-k and preschool next year...

I'm still mad at blogger too. Although they finally found and replaced my missing post ;)

I think it is so great that they asked you to cook their pre-prom dinner. What an honor!

Congrats to the littles with soccer. Hope they have a great game. How is your youngest boy doing?

Blogger has really been making me MAD. It was actually down since THURSDAY. ARGH!

I was gonna make chicken dumpling soup! My first attempt at making my own dumplings too (since I didn't like using the premade biscuit dough). Yipes! I'll have to check out your cooking blog for any tips. :)

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Oooh, Chicken and dumplings! That was a really great request.

I was the first born in our household. My mom survived me leaving LOL My youngest sister is 14 years younger than me, so my mom had a long time to have at least one kid at home.
