Random Acts of Kindness - Happy Notes

While meandering around the interwebs recently, I came across this post at 365 Days: 30+ Mommyhood. In that post, she writes about finding a note in an unexpected place, and how it made her smile.

That immediately made me think of Random Acts of Kindness. I bet we could think of a lot of places to leave little notes that a stranger could find, and maybe it would bring a smile to their face.

It could be totally random, like the one in the post above, never knowing who will find it or what effect it could have on their day.
It could be a postcard in a book, PostSecret style.
Maybe you could put one in a purse or bag that you are donating to Goodwill.

Or maybe, not quite as randomly, a note for your server, along with your tip, telling him how great of a job he's doing.

Where would you leave a Random Act of Kindness Note?
What would it say?

I love the idea of tying in a random act of kindness ala Postsecret Cyndy. Sometimes all it takes is one kind word to cheer somebody up.

I could put one in a library book for the next person who checks it out. Stopping from SITS!

I just bought a $1 scratch off lottery ticket and plan on leaving it in the next library book that I return.
There is a website called actsofkindness.org that gives you many wonderful ideas about how to perform random acts of kindness.

I love random acts of kindness and just last week left a nice note for our server. I need to do more though. Thanks for the reminder!

I love the thought of leaving secret little notes for random people to find and brighten up their day!

I actually do write notes to my servers often...and when they are really good, I write a short little note to the manager letting them know!

I love random acts of kindness. And the library book is a GREAT one!
Maybe a little note left on the gas station pump for the next person would be a cute one.

I leave little notes for my work colleages sometimes by slipping them into their lockers.
Have you heard of a book called 'Notes Left Behind' by Brooke and Keith Desserich? It's a true story about a little girl who left notes inside books and around the home telling her parents that she loved them. They found them after she sadly died of cancer. This book was bought for me and I didn't read it for a long time. I thought it would be too depressing but it actually shows the reader that even during the saddest times in life that it is possible to find hope and encouragement.

That is a very cool idea. I bet some people never hear a kind word all day. I'll have to ponder on this one.

That is a wonderful idea. Gee I could leave notes everywhere. I was just thinking that you could leave a note by the cold medicine section of a store saying "Hope you feel better soon" The possibilities are endless.

I have an idea, I should put a post it on a casino machine saying
"Good Luck" when I am in Vegas.

What a great idea!

I asked the cable guy if I could send lunch with him when he left because I had ZERO cash for a tip. He took me up on it. My son thought it was cool and helped me make his sandwich, and he told his Dad about it when he came home from work. I guess it made an impression!

You know, leaving notes of encouragement and thanksgiving are great ways to pay it forward without having to spend money. I got my Smile Cards last week and haven't figured out what to do with them yet because I can't afford to spend money. But I want to DO nice things for others.

Maybe a sticky note on the dressing room mirror that says:

"SMILE. You look beautiful today!"
