Friday Night Fragging....

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was a nice one for us overall.
My oldest son spent most Thanksgiving day with his girlfriend, which reminded me that (a.) I'm getting old and (b.) not only will I always have to share holidays with the kids' dad, but eventually their spouses, in-laws, etc. I vow to never be the one stressing them out and demanding time....if we need to celebrate a holiday the day before the holiday or the weekend after, so be it. It's all about being together anyway!

So now after a busy week with a full house, I am all alone. John is at work and the kids are with their dad for the weekend. Instead of rushing around getting things done and trying to talk to at least three people at one time, I'm sitting in a quiet house, just me and one dog, watching What Not to Wear. I'm trying to decide whether to clean the house and enjoy it not getting dirty again immediately, eat dinner without interruption, take a shower and actually have time to shave my legs....or just take a nap!

Speaking of the dog.....earlier today, Sofia chewed up a tube of Krazy Glue! Now this is the dog who gets into food a lot....she's eaten 2 birthday cakes and several loaves of bread. But she's never eaten/chewed on anything that wasn't food before. I don't know what got into her! She's fine, but it was pretty amusing to watch her when her lips were all sticky and stiff.

Have you started your Christmas decorating yet? I'm thinking of starting this weekend....

Did you do the Black Friday thing? I didn't...I don't...ever. I'm afraid I'd end up getting arrested. I have a serious lack of patience, I hate crowds, and I hate rude people. I just don't think it would be pretty! I drives John crazy because he loves to shop, and the thought of all the deals we're missing out on just breaks his heart. So I told him next year, he's welcome to go by himself! We'll see if that happens......

Speaking of shopping......on Wednesday I scored a Vera Bradley wristlet at a thrift shop for four bucks! Now THAT is my kind of shopping!

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday & I hope you have a great weekend!

I used to really love the Black Friday shopping. Not so much for the deals, but they used to give free goodie bags and such. This year it just got to me, the people talking about shopping and making it sound like that's what really matters for the holidays. I slept in this year, then played Scrabble with the family. It was nice.

My oldest spent Thanksgiving with her boyfriend this year. She called and said she missed us. She'll be home for Christmas and I'll see her next weekend. It's just the first of many holidays not spent together. I think it will be sadder once they are all grown, but am hopeful we'll still find the time to get together.

Everyone should do Black Friday once or twice. Me, I've had my fill. I enjoyed a nice time sleeping on the couch! :)

Kyle came home for the weekend; it was sooo nice to have him home again. I suppose it's only a matter of time before he's pulled in other directions at holiday time. I guess I should start getting ready for that.

Happy you enjoyed your alone time :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thanksgiving was wonderful. We had a great time at our sons place on Friday. I have never pressured my adult children to be here, I know we have to share, however when we have grandchildren I just may be a bit possesive. I am supposed to be decorating, that's why the tree was put up last Saturday. I am trying to get in the mood, it's just not coming!! Enjoy your quiet time. I can't believe that the dog at that glue. So glad that she is okay. No I do not shop on Black Friday only on the computer if I see a great deal I can't pass up.

You totally should have video recorded the dog. Great score on the bracelet. The other day at Target I got a new skirt for my oldest & a new dress for my middle one for $3.24 each. TOTAL SCORE!

I finished up my shopping last week. This is the first year in a long time I didn't go out for Black Friday and it was so nice not to have to be "out there." Nothing really appealed to me that I couldn't get a better deal on line with!

I'm not big on crowds either. I just get irritated.

Great attitude about the holidays and sharing them with the ex and future spouses.
I need to take a page from your book and learn to relax about that stuff.
BTW your dog Sophie...too funny! Cake I get. Glue, not so much.

I remember being stressed out as a TEEN worrying about getting the "eventual in-laws" in for the holidays! What a pain! But I am with you, I hope to never be one of those parents!
And where's Meep? Did you send her to me? =)
