Wordful Wednesday ~ Shouldn't Have to Be

We shouldn't have to put this Christmas tree on a cold little grave.

We shouldn't have to glue cars onto a hard slab.

We shouldn't have to see the brand-new grave beside his, of a baby who only lived for one day.

There shouldn't have to be a baby section in a cemetery.

There shouldn't have to be parents with empty arms.

There shouldn't have to be parents wondering what their kids would be doing that Christmas, if only they had lived.

I shouldn't have to kneel down and tell that baby how wonderful his father is.

I shouldn't have to tell him that he will see him again in Heaven, of this I have no doubt.

I shouldn't have to tell him about his little brother, and how I wish they could play together.

He shouldn't have to wonder what his son would be like today.

He shouldn't have to visit his firstborn son in a cemetery.

He shouldn't have to miss his son, every single day.

It is not right for a parent to live longer that a child. Your words and picture made me cry. My prayers go out to your husband and your family...

i agree that it isnt natural for a parent to outlive a child. i have no idea what you and the hubby go through, but i think about you often.

May you have a very blessed 2009 knowing that he is safe and loved in heaven and for now he is watching from above knowing he is loved.

Bless your family. I know this baby is up in Heaven playing with my quintuplets and they are all being cared for by a loving God. I'd like to think at night our kids look down at us through the opening in the stars and keep watch on us. Big hugs to all of you.

You're right, it's something that never should happen.

I think, that in my case, I've finally come to terms with my losses, but the hurt, etc, is always there ... just more bearable now.
